OK, first of all reseat the video card in the slot. Make sure the onboard graphics is disabled. See if the problem occurs again. If it does and you did NOT use the same cable as you did with on board graphics then try another cable or borrow one from a friend. Should that fail try the second DVI output port. OK, should that fail try another PCI-E slot if you have one on your motherboard but keep in mind that your PC will boot but the screen might stay black until the windows loading screen.
