Hello everyone, so I am from Brazil so sorry for my bad English, anyways I bought this Gtx 1060 about an year ago and it was working just fine until last month, when it would stop working after I turned on my computer, so basically I couldn't restart my pc because my card would just stop working for like 20 minutes, to "fix" this I would need to let it rest for the 20 minutes and try booting my pc again, and yesterday it all went down, because the card literally stopped working, I let it rest overnight but it still did not work, I was using an EVGA power supply of 600W. Can qnyone can give me an idea of how to solve this?

It would be really helpful to know more about your system. Does your system have onboard graphics so you can see if the system operates normally without the GPU installed?

Oh I forgot to tell, yes I tried with the integrated graphics of my system and it worked fine, but I couldn't find the gpu on the device manager or GPU-Z, I have an I7-4790 with 16gb of DDR3 RAM

Okay so your system operates normally without the GPU installed. If the GPU is not recognized in either the device manger or GPU-Z then it has likely failed. Just to be sure, the GPU is not detected by the system after removing it, reseating it, and reinstalling back in the slot?

Hey, so I tried to take the card out and put it back in and tried to turn on and for some reason it worked again, I honestly don't know why but I was wondering in case it happens again, what should I do?

This is not uncommon. Over time, metals oxidize and corrosion can develop on the contacts creating a poor electrical connection. Removing and reinstalling the GPU basically 'scrapes' off the oxide layer and restores contact. If it happens again, you can use an eraser to clean the contacts on the GPU and IPA and a cotton swab to gently clean the PCIe slot.

You're in Brazil which can have high humidity so GPU contacts can have corrosion. Once every few months when you clean dust off from the inside of your PC remove the video card and using a lint free cloth wipe down the video card contacts.

India Pale Ale ha-ha no isopropyl alcohol also known as rubbing alcohol. Also, HeavyHemi mentioned the use of an eraser that would be a rubber eraser or again otherwise know as a pencil eraser.

a total last resort is baking it in the oven. I had an old video card that stopped working and I heard about a trick of baking it in the oven for a few minutes. It melts some of the soldered connections and when it cools it resolidifies and can bridge any connections that were severed. At least that's how the person explained it. I'm no expert and this should be considered information for entertainment purposes only. I did this on a 560 Ti card and after I baked it in the oven for 5 minutes at 350 degrees I let it cool down and i fired it up in my PC. It worked for another year before I upgraded it. I made sure to remove the plastic parts before baking it. If nothing else works its worth a shot lol if you you were just going to throw it away or recycle it anyway.
