Very nice.
You used Alphacool fittings new line or some other brand?

This is expensive hardware.

I used Barrow fittings mostly.  The Y fitting and the rotating 90's are Alphacool Eiszapfen series.  Everything else was Barrow.

Nearly forgot the new case doesn't come with any fans.  Since I'm trying to do this swap pretty cheap but I wanted some ARGB I ended up with a 3 pack of Fractal's ARGB 140mm fans to go up front.  Main reason was they can be daisy chained on the ARGB side since I don't know if Phanteks ARGB controller in the case will take a standard 3pin ARGB connection or if it only works with Phantek's connectors etc.  I think there's an adapter included but it might only be enough for 1 plug or something.  I suppose eventually I might have to break down and go with a "system" like corsair's lighting stuff or something.  I was going to do 3x 140mm from Coolermaster to match the other fans I have but they seem to be sold out everywhere expect resellers gouging on price.  I thought about getting regular fans and putting Phanteks Halo's on them but that was racking up $$$ quick.

Sorry don't do any 3D stuff.....yet at least  (dabbled with it in the past for a coaster sim that could import 3D objects when building tracks).  Other than gaming including flightsims I do photo editing with Lightroom Classic and Photoshop via the 9.99/month subscription and hopefully at some point some mild video editing with Premiere Elements or maybe upgrade that to a new software from a different company (my PE version is like 5 years old).

I do like the 3700X though. Noticeable increase in game performance vs my 4790K running at 4.4Ghz all core and that was compared with using the same GPU in both builds before I swapped my 1070 SC for the 2080 Super FTW3.  I really wanted a 3900X just to have it, but 2 months later it's just finally in stock so I'm sticking with the 3700X for now and when the next gen comes out will upgrade to a higher core count from that assuming it will still use AM4, otherwise I'll grab a 3950X and that will be it for a couple years at least until the next major upgrade comes along as far as CPU/mobo goes.

I do stream on Twitch while gaming though and use CPU rendering for that so the 3700X is definitely helping there.  That was one of the reasons I wanted to go with a higher core count.  Of course now with the Enthoo Luxe 2 coming in to house it, I could go to a dual system setup for that if I wanted but I'll save that in case I "make it big" lol.  I'm not doing it seriously enough at all to justify building a separate streaming setup at this point.

edit: I'm guessing  you might have been asking about the modeling etc. as far as if I was making use of the PCIE 4 bandwidth with NVME drives.  Not yet.  I know I could have saved 100+ and gone with a 450/470 series board, but I intend to keep the motherboard for around the next 4 years (seems to be my usual cycle) and so I went 570 just to be ready for whatever I might start doing in that timeframe.   Also this was one of the few boards that had the USB support I needed.  I keep collecting more USB stuff to plug in lol.

The problem with having different RGB fans is running so many different programs, let alone different specs and audibles. I personally like having one set of fans from one mfger and software.

Actually this will be more unified so the only differences will be purely the look of the fans which shouldn't be super noticeable while spinning.  They will all be running off the mobo or through the Phanteks ARGB hub controlled via mobo.  I definitely need to pick a system at some point.  Not sure what route I'll take.  That Corsair stuff is $$$$$$$$ I took a look at it yesterday.  $100 for two fans and the hubs needed for them wow.  I paid $65 for 3 Fractal fans and they don't need a hub or any special software and can be daisy chained together with their built in "splitters".  Each fan has a male and female ARGB connector on the lighting cable.  I guess if anyone has any suggestions on alternatives to the Corsair stuff that would be great.  Especially if there are models that work well with rads.

I have a week and a half to get stuff swapped and the Fractal fans are coming via Amazon so it would be an easy return if a better suggestion is out there.  Though I was trying to avoid the $$$ right now of replacing the rear and rad fans which I already have.  I was mostly just trying to pick up some fans for the front of the case since it comes with no fans at all.

The Prisma fans showed up.  Will be testing them out tonight when I get home.  Amazon listed it as new.  The package was most definitely previously opened.  Probably a return.  The box top was slightly ripped in a corner and the whole thing was inside a plastic bag that was also opened.  All the mounting screws were still sealed in their packs though two had fallen out into said baggy (it's a 3 pack box).  I chatted with Amazon and got a small credit back since it's obviously not totally new (was shipped/sold by them and listed as "New").  Hopefully they all work and light up properly or I'm gonna be doing a quick rush shipping from Newegg for them instead.

Re: Flyinion's "Zen Build" 2019/10/24 10:10:58 (permalink)
Fans all worked.  I'm kinda thinking the box was just maybe damaged at the warehouse or something.  All the fans still had all the twist ties etc.  Anyway, it looks like I'm fixing the mismatched fan issue.  Apparently my friend's person I'm selling the H500M to though it was coming with the non-stock fans (didn't know they weren't stock).  So  I think I'm just gonna pick up a 3 pack of the 120mm Fractal fans for the rad and a single 140 for the rear.  The bonus is that everything will match now lol.  The sucky part is my "cheap" case swap is starting to get $$$ cause selling the case isn't paying for the fans and splitter cables I'm picking up. The other bonus is, based on specs, the Fractal fans have like 40% more static pressure that the CM SF360R triple 120 that I was using on the radiator (3x120's in a rectangular frame with one set of cables).

Also still need to order the riser cable and that's not cheap either if I go with the one company on Amazon that makes PCIe 4 capable ones.  If I don't do a riser I'll probably need to pick up something for anti-sag.  The case comes with some bracket but it only reinforces the rear panel of the case.  So it doesn't take any stress off the card at the front end.  Seems like a weird way to make an anti-sag bracket.

Yeah I think I want to do vertical though.  The case actually comes with the Phanteks vertical GPU bracket in addition to having the free floating 3 slot mount on the back of the case.  I just need to buy a riser cable to go with it.

So now I'm a bit undecided on what to do.  I figured out this evening after unboxing it that the mount it came with was the plastic one for down at the bottom for the second system location.  So I'd still have to shell out $$$ for the one that goes in the PCIE slots.  I can use the triple slot one built into the back of the case, but then I have the situation of 3lbs of watercooled GPU being supported only by the PCIE bracket and the apparent 5 tiny screws that connected it to the PCB which EVGA told me was not a good idea.  Trying to thing of a way to fab something up to support it from underneath, but then that also kind of would cause issues if I ever wanted to put a system in the bottom or fans/rad down there.  Also not sure if I would need a separate antisag support.  It does come with the bracket that locks it down at the rear of the case and maybe that along with the reinforced PCIE slots on the mobo is enough to keep it in check?  One problem with doing the bracket that goes in the PCIE slots is that of course if I ever need to run another PCIE card of some kind, well, I can't.

edit:  Now, I could put in the second system I/O shield, though the I/O block would be open with nothing covering it, and use the bottom mount for vertical mounting, but then I'm going to have a 45-50cm long (like 18 inches) of riser cable streaming down there from the middle of the mobo and that's just going to look like garbage.

I think you did a very nice job on your new PC. I had the same thought when I seen the top panel: where does it get air? Was my only "gripe" I guess. You have a nice looking system. I think it's wise to take your time assembling the water loop. Thanks for showing it off. +1

Thanks guys.  Well, I think I've realized I'm going to just have to have the system down for a day+ so I can take it apart and test mount the GPU in a few configs to see if the vertical mount is going to cause a problem running the tubing in the new case.  Then once I figure it out order either vertical mount, riser cable, anti-sag support, or some combination of those 3.  Hopefully I'll have updated pics of it in the new Enthoo Luxe 2 by next weekend :)

Looks great.
Just my OCD kickin in, but I think you could easily clean up the tubing routing.

EVGA states either port on the HydroCopper block can be used for inlet or outlet. Normally, I would connect to the same one you did. It cools the core first. But unless you are overclocking the card to the tits for benchmarks, the cooling difference is negligible. It would be more efficient (slightly less tubing) to go from the CPU block to the GPU to the other port. This not only uses less tubing, but it would straighten out the run making it neater. This in turn would relocate the lower inlet line to be shorter and a bit straighter. Again, making it neater. Lastly, shorten the run from the rez to the rad. Take the kink out of it and make it vertical. The in/out orientation on the pump top kinda sucks. I would have gone out from rez, to rad, to CPU, to GPU, back to rez. Only my opinion. Rock whatever makes you roll.

Anyways, nice build.

Thanks.  Partly that one run looks like that from the rad cause it's curving out slightly around the res (rad port is inboard from the res port), the other part was the short piece of tube had a curve still in it from being coiled up and it seemed like it was putting sideways stress on the fitting when I tried to straighten it.  either way everything is moving to an Enthoo Luxe 2 starting tonight so I have a chance to re-route everything.  Haven't decided where the res will go in it and the GPU is probably going vertical.  Depending on whether that's in a bracket in the PCIE slots or in the build in mount off to the side with some support of some kind under it for sag will make the CPU to GPU run either not too bad, or a royal pain to cut and connect.

Ok, build is updated with the new case.  Of course I had to re-run the loop as well.  Not as quick as I thought it would be since I'd done it before now but oh well.  Other than probably swapping the res tube for a longer one, not doing anything else to the loop until I learn hard tube bending.  Might add a LED strip in the bottom in the front.

Thanks!  Yeah much more room.  I plan to probably add a 420 in the front or a thicker 360 push/pull in the bottom later on, but I'm going to learn how to bend PETG tube before I do that.  Also, can you spot the problem in the last photo with the GPU closeup?  I didn't notice it until a couple hours after the system was on and had even done stress testing.  Guess I checked for smoke and forgot to make sure everything was actually working.  Noticed it looking at the pic later after I sent it to someone.

Yeah.......that middle fan isn't turning on the rad.  I though I was going to have to pull it out to fix it, because in my infinite wisdom I used a technique I saw in a youtube video and zip tied up all the fan/RGB cables along the backside of the fans/rad.  The RGB is daisy chained together, the PWM connectors are in a 3 way splitter from EK that is only 10mm long and when I went to plug it into the CPU header (only possible before bolting in the rad) apparently the connector for the middle fan pulled out when I twisted the splitter around.  I actually managed to fix it in place with about 10-15 minutes of fiddling last night with a high powered LED light in the bottom and looking through the open spots in the top of the frame.  I was actually able to get fingers up there.  So happy I didn't have to pull the rad out.  I could have done it with the length of those two tube but I'd have needed an extra pair of hands to support it etc while I fixed the splitter.

Didn't even realize that.  I thought you were referencing to the GPU RGB not matching the rest unless of course the camera is playing games with my eyes.  If not, I'm sure some tweaking in PX1 could fix that.

Replacing a fan is actually fairly simple without the need to remove a rad or loop unless it's too tight up there for ya.

As for the fan not spinning, you could run one fan and still get cooling to your silicon.  As long as the pump(s) are working.  You could possibly get away with passive cooling before it gets to the danger zone but with no pump flow, that would spike the temps but you should be covered there with the safety mechanisms built-in the silicons/MB.

Well, I have everything zip tied in three spots to the long screws holding the fans to the rad, so I could have unbolted the fan, but it might have been held in place by the zip tied cables going to the fans on either side of it.  Luckily I was able to get the connectors back together.  I'm actually not 100% it came out vs I pushed the ground pin in when inserting the fan cable.  It was pushed it, but I also though I pushed the connectors together last night during my first attempt to fix it so it might have happened then.    As far as the cooling, yeah it was like a 360 rad with 240 worth of fans on it until I fixed it.  With the higher static pressure on these than the coolermaster SF360R that they replaced the two fans were actually possibly outperforming the 3 fan CM setup lol.

Forgot to mention this.  Your eyes weren't playing tricks.  I did have a different green on the GPU.  I actually had about 3 different greens in there on purpose until an Armoury Crate update updated Aura and it ate my custom settings.  Just never got around to redoing it.  I've noticed the RGB on the EVGA stuff is pretty limited in range.  Pick a yellow from the color palette and it's instantly obvious anything with yellows in it (so oranges as well) can't be created.

Not much going on in the last month other than a color scheme change.  Been planning to add another rad to the loop and maybe swap the block for one from Optimum that is designed for 3rd gen Ryzen CPU's with the chiplet design.  Debating whether to go with a 360 in the bottom, 420 in the front, or a 480 in the back wall.  Planning to swap to hard tubing when that happens as well, so I have to get cracking on learning to bend tubing.  I asked for a heatgun for Christmas so then I'd just have to buy the tube bending insert and some PETG to practice on :).

Here's the color scheme change.  Yeah, I based it off Jayz2Cents' "Nebula" build.  When he first mentioned the blue/purple thing a few months ago I wanted to do it but wanted to see how he did it first.  I.e were certain components always going to be a fixed color etc.  They weren't so I used Aura Creator to just make a basic color shift with a limited range of 3 different blue/purple colors and it just shifts through each LED in whatever order Aura does by default.  Applied with Armoury Crate after creating.  Was my first use of the Creator. Don't know if I'll leave it like this but it's a nice change.  Set the keyboard/mouse to match.
