Hi all

Well it did take some time and yes my X58 sstem is finally running, it's upgrade path to DX11 VGA is planned but that has no use for my doings so here is it's setup

Firefox X58

Intel Core i7 930 D0 Bloomfield Land Grid Array 1366
3x 2048MB PC3-12800 Corsair Dominator in Tri Channel DDR3-1333 mode at the moment.
EVGA E758 X58 3x SLI Motherboard with the Intel X58 Tylersburg Chipset
1x Hightech Industry Systems ATi Radeon HD 4870 ICEQ4+ PCI-E 1024MB GDDR5
in 32 Lane 2-Way CFX with:
1x Pine XFX ATi Radeon HD 4870 XXX Edition PCI-E 1024MB GDDR5 [Limited 12Layer PCB Variant, "Card 019" of 032 made in the world]
Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1 PCI 64MB X-RAM Sound Card
2x 500GB Western Digital Caviar RE3 24/7 series HDD's in Raid 0
Antec True Power Quattro Series 850Watt EPS12V + 2.3V
Lian Li PC-60 MK II + PC-65USD Side window
Gold Leader's Hangar Bay Mod + Gold Leader's Koensayr BTL-S3 Y-Wing Starfighter
2x 30CM Sharkoon Blue CCFL's
2x 30CM Sharkoon Yellow CCFL's
2x 80mm x 80mm x 25mm Antec Tri Cool Red / Green / Blue Tri-Led Fans, 1 in rear & 1 in ceiling
1x 120mm x 120mm x 25mm Antec tri-Cool Green ledded fan in front as intake.
Samsung SyncMaster 943-BW 19" 720p HD TFT max reso 1440 x 900 x32 @ 75 Herz Contrast = 2000:1 Dynamic Contrast is 50.000:1 good for the marketing that last one

So yeah I just replaced that big 20" EIZO FlexScan T662-T, here a shot of it with the Dual Opterons left and right of it:

Once the DX11 cards arrive well I will post an update of that here :) This system is finally running , I solved the sound issue with a proper soundcard the best PCI card on the market the Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1, Creative's X-Fi Fatal1ty done right, much better components a true master card to them audiophiles out there, 100% sealed capacitors , upgradable OPAMPS you name it it ahs it all of studio quality parts, the drivers work without worries, so as that goes no more creative stuff for my doings, even that this card uses a Creative APU [ Audio Processing Unit] it's the drivers and hardware extra's that this card has over it's cheaper quality brothers, it just stands out

Here some pics of the Prelude 7.1:

Just happy that the Prelude 7.1 fixed my sound issue and the isntant crashes which that cheap low quality Realtek chip and it's drivers caused

So yeah that kinda did it I guess, Win7 Pro x64 UK as OS of choice, just to be prepared for the next new thing and yeah Win7 ain't so bad as some thought, it's alot better than Vista heh, but my heart will remain with Win2K Pro + SP4, dunno my roots lay there.

Anyways this it for now, it has 2-Way CrossfireX with Dual HD 4870 1024 1024MB's and yeah it runs great, SLI or CFX I really don't mind, both techs are very similar heh.

ATi.AMD and Nvidia I just don't mind, so as that goes, I prefer to remain neutral about that subject

hehe thank you greatly for your replies guys
As the old badges and decals go yeah, 3dfx Interactive as some may know I have had alot of these cards including their Engineering Samples in my past, here's my old collection which I sold 2 years ago during some depressive stage of my life:

As you can see, I kept the photo's for good reference and a memory that it was a good and learnful one to have around, you will find the albums Avenger and Napalm the most interesting, they hold alot of Engineering Samples especially the Napalm folder

As for the room setup , yeah it's perfect for the beta testing I do for DXX-Rebirth a Descent 1/2 project which is lead by Zico, our captain and creator of this project for new-gen operating systems for Apple Mac OS, Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista 7, BeOS and Unix, 32bit and 64bit  versions supported

Here a vid where i finally got UDP working in a game that officially had no UDP support, this was with Descent 2 and DXX-Rebirth 0.56 Beta 4 and it finally worked just 2 weeks before we went final with 0.56 on Septermber 29, 2010 also our 5th Anniversary
go to : D2X Rebirth 0.56 B4 over 3PC's UDP.divx and feel free to watch the successful moment
    http://www.youtube.com/my_videos?feature=mhum
As you can see, the vid still shows that the i7 was using the old big 20" EIZO FlexScan T662-T Monitor which has been replaced with the 19" Samsung SyncMaster 943-BW

Here more info if this great project:

    Peace

Well here's anews flash  the VGA card that my system is getting is this one:

EVGA GeForce GTX 480 SuperClocked+ with Backplate!

I chose this because I wanted to keep the same sceme as I did with the Dual OpteronDP 2380 C2 with the Dual EVGA GeForce GTX 295 Red Editions:

Since these GTX 480 SC+'s are Matt Black, they also match the colorsceme of my i7 build :) and hey it's EVGA so why refuse it right!  A nice build deserves a nice upgrade the second card will eb due around december after miy birthday I think haha ah well :)
So stay tuned my friends of EVGA

Norries mate, my plans usually work out, so will this one, they normally take time, and that is probably needed to get to the perfect sollution actually

Maybe you could tell me more to what your techs did to this special GTX 480, besides the rear heatsink and the backplate which us 3dfx techs call the retention plate, ya know. that metal part you screw to the system after clicking this baby in

Did they do anything to the VRM's? Were these hand picked like with them GTX 295 Red Edition "Golden Samples" ? Or were the GPU's & Ram chips also hand picked with these?

Really, I do wonder this sometimes, every time EVGA comes with something like this, your dev-group truly amazes me, really, so it's worth collecting also, better get it now otherwise in the future it may not even be around, even then GTX 295 RE's they are RARE these days very rare since only 103 were made as where 20 of them were Golden Samples, as which one of my cards is a GS hehe, last GTX 295 RE on ebay went for 947 euro's no joke. :)

Your EVGA team is surely reliving the great 3dfx dream, to create the best possible graphics card sollution the world is aloud to explore, this is just cool to see happening even about 10 years after 3dfx closed doors

Thanks EVGA for keeping this hard kept dream alive.

    +1 from me mates.

Someday I do hope to obtain a Fermi Engineering Sample, I dunno if you people could help me in this sector as well.

Since it's all hardware anyways the other VGA cards that are in my ciollection are in the living room's vitrine table, which is in this one :)

I used them all to test the games and all cards approved except that black ATi Radeon HD 2900 XTX Rev.A11 0639 Engineering Sample 1 of 5 known in the world. It needs WinXp Pro & Cat 7.5 beta x86 for 3D function, it fdoes work thouggh, although Winvista and 7 only show 2D function.
Here a view with the table decoration added :)

here the view from the coutch to the TV :)

The plane is a South African Boeing 747-SP-44 Scale 1/200 desktop model :)

The EVGA GeForce GTX 480 SC+ will be a cool and very interesting addition to this widely varriated VGA card collection, all cards work btw, I have tested them all over the years :) The table came from IKEA, there are new designs of this table, but thx to mom help painting it, I can't open the draw it has, so I use a Plunger to open it via the glass top side haha , ah well it works rofl

Base 2? Hmmm,  Ah why not, always looking forward to a new adventure

Nice build you have too man

An EVGA GeForce GTX 465 hmm interesting, were you able to enable the other Cuda Cores and Ram so it could be flashed to a GTX 470?

I read somewhere that this was possible with the first batch of GTX 465's
    Cool mobo

At first which I didn't see yet,, how blind can a man be hah!
Thank you greatly for the person that gave me a Blue Ribbon

Well I have installed my EVGA e-GeForce 8800 Ultra SuperClocked Edition PCI-E 768MB 384Bit GDDR3 VGA card  to ride it out until the EVGA GeForce GTX 480 SuperClocked+ Edition arrives:

As you can see, I took neater pics this time, I also cleaned the dusty window, when the GTX 480 SC+ arrives I will clean the window again to get the best shots :)

The 8800 USC will be the Deticated PhysX card along side the GTX 480 SC+ :)

This is my way of mixing the old  with the new, stay tuned for more  later the up coming two weeks

Well my friends of EVGA , Some changes came to plan , although I did choose for the GTX 480, it came to this original NVIDIA GTX 480, the card I always wanted , although very hard to obtain in VGA collector land even here in the EU it was just not possible to obtain :)

But in Hong Kong such impossibillities came possible, for a good deal too, 346 eur incl shipping, so hey why not right

A month from this place I will go for this new case, the Lian Li PC-X2000B

That will take care of my airflow needs, HDD's in the hotswap in the bottom, CPU's Mobo and stuff in the centre and PSU DVD's up tops, just plain ideal.

I will keep you all updated on this one :)

it is very tall indeed, but the purpose is well thought and since it has to last for quite a few years it'sa good choice, although a case is always avery personal thing, for some this could not be the layout an other may seek, but since I will go 2CPU Xeon next year this case will be the case for that system.

Mobo of choice is the Supermicro X8DA3, it has IPMI 2.0 and some PCI slots I need for certain hardware, so this is why no SR2 for my doings, as OCing goes, that has never been my major interest, so that won't be in the way as that goes.
    here's the Supermicro X8DA3:

here a neat photo of it

How does that blue cathode hook up? 3 pin, 4 pin, etc.

I was going to grab one for my case (the bottom as well!) after I swap out all my big 200mm fans with some more powerful 120's (no LEDs).

Excellent build(s) (multiple in this case!) btw.

    Thanks danielxcloud

AS for them CCFL power connectors , they are 3 pins  You get a mini trafo with them, so with this you can connect 2 CCFL's to it

The new build will get green and white, so you het an Ice green color tone, which also netralizes the looks of it. The Dual OpteronSP 2380 C2 with the GTX 295 RE Quad SLI has blue and white, to give an ice blue touch, it also keeps a neutral effect to the system it's self.

At night it looks very cool and it produces enough light in my room also.

Well the fist part of Firefox XX58's upgrade plan has been purchased, as being the GTX 480 was Part A, this is Part B, Part Cwill be the case and D the new PSU, E will be the Supermicro X8DA3, F the CPU's+ coolers and finally E the 6x 4GB DDR3-1333 Ram sticks, but the Xeon parts is along haul ahead, The Case and PSU will be obtained this year.

The Lian Li W-X2000B Side Window for the X2000B Server Tower :)
    http://www.performance-pc...&products_id=26577

That's was the most difficult part, the case will be here due December, that has no rush at all and from the case onwards to a much better PSU , then theSupermicro X8DA3 and onwars to the CPU's and memory, I think this system will be due to launch in Q3 2011, that is with the Dual Xeon upgrade added, without these parts, it will be running Mid December also with the new lighting added. Asfor this side window, it was a very worthy find, because with it, I can continue my plans.

    Lighting will be 2x 30CM Green CCFL's and 2x 30CM White CCFL's from Sharkoon btw :)

hehe thanks for all your kind posts everyone

Anyways the only part I have obtained is the Transparrent Side panel for the Tyr X2000B, which is called the Lian Li W-X2000B:

Slowly it will take shape, Mid Decmber the case should arrive, although the system will get a diffierent Motherboard and CPU's I plan to go Dual OpteronDP 4184 Lisbon and a Motherboard that has the C32 Chipset with DUal 4,6 and 8 core support and Dual DDR3-1333 Per CPU, giving a total of Quad Channel DDR3-1333 still a nice deal, the OpteronDP 4184's are 2800Mhz 6 core CPU's with a HT speed of 6400mhz instead of 2400Mhz the Istanbuls have, the Motherboard also features Dual HT Links so this will also push this system beyond the speeds of any Core 980X but at alower price for two of these CPU's it would cost me a good 580 eur;s and that for a pair of 2800Mhz 6 Cores, it's a real steal.

Ram wise I plan to use 4x 8192 MB DDR3-1333 Kingston Server Ram, The Mobo will be probably from Supermicro or MSI< these are still my Mobo brands of Choice in Dual Opteron Land.

The VGA that will be used will be the GTX 480 from Zotac, that will do from now on :)

    Re:Firefox X58 finally Completed. 2010/10/31 15:00:53 (permalink)
what type of 747 and 737's were they?

The Aircraft I have been on were quite a few too, although I collect the ones I have now hence their beauty :)

The first one I flew with as which I could possibly remember was during the move from The Netherlands to Australia in 1980:
The flight was from Schiphol International Amsterdam, The Netherlands  to a refuel @ Changi International Airport, Singapore then to Kingsford-Smith Airport, Sydney where the flight ended, aircraft flown was a KLM Boeing 747-212 aka B742.

My parrents sister and I ived for about half a year in Sydney, dad got a job within 3 weeks as a swimming pool builder, after 2 years of this we moved upnorth to red Bank Plains, about 60KM west of Brisbane.

We flew a an Ansett Boeing 737-238 aka B732 and man this was a fast critter to get airborn, but very noisy hence the small engines it had. After 2 years of Swimmign pool building he became a chief Engineer @ Swanbank Power Station for a good5 years, until the place had to sut down and a new plant had to be built 600KM from home, we were like sell the place and go west.

That we did, as my third flight was from Brisbane to Sydney and then from Sydney to Perth, this was the move from Queensland to Western Australia

First aircraft was a TAA [Trans Australian Ailines] Airbus A300-200 aka A302. What a flying bathtub this was short but fat, really interesting and very stable also, my only Airbus experience, it was good as well.

From Sydney to Perth was with a Tri-jet wich most aussie flyboys called it, an Ansett Boeing B727-238 aka B722, this thing was fast and stable, we flew at a nice speed of 850 kph and man this was a smooth ride.

We moved to Wollaston, Picton Erea of Bunbury City, 182 KM South of Perfth, here my dad worked @ Worsely Power Plant, for a short year, then he went to Muja Power Plant for better earnings.

The year 1986 gave me my 4rth flight from Perth International to Colombo for a fuel stop and to Schiphol International, this was a 6 week vacation to The Netherlands, family reunions and so on.
On the way to NL we flew a KLM Boeing 747-312 aka B743 and the 5th flight which was the way back the same aircraft, this was brilliant.

My 6th flight was from Perth International to Kuala Lumpur International Malaysia for a 3 day visit and from that point to Zurich International, Switzerland and from there to Schiphol International, Amsterdam The Netherlands.
Aircraft of flight was a Malaysian Airlines Boeing 747-430 aka B744, the best aircraft I ever flew with, it was also just one week old, and the funny part was I had the same aircraft with the same pilots with this trip, I was in the cockpit for hours , at zurich the captain took me for a walk under this beauty, man I could even smell the paint on it's landing gear, I still have some pics of this great day, B744's have always been my thing since that day, which I also love flying with FSX + SP2 & REX 1.2.

My 7th flight was with a Jodel Do-112 , this was in 1995, it was a flight training course I did @ Domme Airstrip in France, for a 2 day test run, made me think of returning, pilot trainer also trained Mirage III & 2000 Pilots in Dijon for 11 years, his name was Captain Jean Michelle, great guy.

8th flight was something of a bigger size, an Air-Holland Boeing 757-200 aka B752 from Schiphol International The Netherlands to Barcelona International, Spain, the 9th flight was the same aircraft and same pilots, I also made the entire return trip in the Cockpit :) The Co-Pilot even did FS 2002 as one of his main hobbies haha this was 2002 btw, he also used a Dual AthlonMP 2200+ like I did but with a Leadtek GeForce4 Ti4600, I had a Hercules 9700 Pro at that time, but same system for the rest, these two pilots fly for Martin Air now, as they told me during that flight that Air Holland was going to go bankrupts and that they were a lucky two, that could get transferred to Martin Air, I told them grab all the chances you can get guys, they agreed and thank me understanding their problem, I also hope that the rest of his crew made it out, alot of kind people his crew had.

Anyways my last flight was with a Cessna C172, in 2003 , a 4 day 2,5 hour per flight run flight course with Captain & Chief Flight Instructor Jean Michelle @ Domme International again, this course also made my last lesson a good run I manually landed the C172 without the engine enabled from aglide landing, live engine start up and took off, and excercising this for 2 hours flat, the last touch and go I did myself by swiching off the engine @ 800 feet, then gliding to the runway flaps @ 35 Degrees touching down gently starting up the engine as I rolled along then taking off anc coming around for a last landing, my flight sintructor said that I was capable of getting my flight degree within 2 months, he was amazied with my performance and asked me how did I come to all the knowledge, I said Flight Sims sir, they learn you alot of basics you need to know and B it's one of my greater interests heh, he then understood hehe.

But yeah, no more flying since 2003, knda miss it every now and then.

Here another view from the other side, that red dino is an Edaphosaurus rofl. :)
