An oldie but goodie! (I suppose?) It's an EVGA 113-M2-E113-TR motherboard, nForce 730a chipset socket AM2+, I would assume it's a long discontinued product, but the EVGA page still has a price + buy now option for it!

http://www.evga.com/produ....asp?pn=113-M2-E113-TR

This is long deactivated on Newegg (where my friend bought it like 2-3 years ago), and since EVGA has stopped making AMD mobos ever since, I figured this is a good board to keep around!

So I basically bought a 6400+ CPU off a forum member here, and ordered 4GB of DDR2 RAM for it. I have a CM xtreme power 500W PSU, WD Caviar Blue, and a cheap Liteon DVD burner to pair up for it. All I'm really missing now is a case. Can't wait to put this new build together and see how an AMD system can overclock!

I just went through the whole process of ordering it (up until they ask for my CC#) and it looks like you can still buy it

But instead of $79.99 I got the board for $30 It's still in mint condition since he ran it off a 5800+ CPU and NEVER overclocked any part of it!

He didn't register it... I'll just have to pray it works for awhile... hopefully it will!

Would probably get a newer AM3 mobo whenever this one goes out.

    Nice mobo.

The AM2's weren't very good overclockers I'm afraid.  The X2 6400 was/is about at it's ceiling right out of the box.  I have one as I type this in a MSI K9N-SLI Platinum motherboard, and it also spent a year or so in a Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe.  I was never able to get it past 3.4 GHz stable.

Good luck though.  If you blow it up, I have a X2 6000 that I would like to get rid of

The highest proc these supported was the original Phenom with a BIOS update.  Unfortunately I remember a thread a while back about someone trying to get that update.  It seemed like it had been lost.

Yeah, a Phenom II 940 since it's AM2+, but the AM3 Phenom IIs only support DDR3 right?

Most Phenom II have DDR2 and DDR3 support built right in. It will depend on the motherboard which IMC is used. The only Phenom without DDR3 support is the Phenom II 940. As far as I know every Phenom II, Athlon II, and Sempron II will support DDR2 and DDR3 except the noted 940 without DDR3 support.

Now their are talks of  some AM3 boards supporting Bulldozer. AMD is really generous with the backwards forwards compatibility.

Oh sweet, thanks for that info But for an AM2+ mobo to run AM3 is a different story right? I'd assume a BIOS update would have to be made, and I'll have to look further into that for this particular board. However it's no big deal, I'm happy with a 6400+ CPU for this build, it's not my main build anyways... I plan on making it a full AMD/ATI system so I won't be stuck with Intel/NVIDIA all the time hehe

To bad you can not get newer AMD SLI boards any more.
