Hey all, i bought a 80g OCZ vertex 2 for my rig. installed windows 7 64bit on it, eveything runs fine. but when i tried to update the firmware with the ocz updater it says the drive isnt found...:S. when i go to device manager and look at the driver date, it says microsoft 2006. device manager sees the drive as a "disk drive"... like ive tried everything it seems, run the ssd updater as admin, change the req on the drive to 0, nothing works.. ive looked around the ocz forums, other ppls problems but i cant seem to get it figured out... so im asking you guys for help, maybe i need to enable something in the bios? they say i need to be in AHCI mode, but i have that enabled in bios.. its so frusterating, any help would be much appreciated!

i have the ssd connected to sata port 3, and a raid 0 set up in the first and second sata port... maybe the ssd should be in the first sata port... the ssd is my boot and the raid set up is just for storage.

Check to OCZ site to be sure they have detailed instruction for updating firmware but I believe the system has to be in IDE mode to update the firmware and align the disk properly when formated. Check in to that and Good Luck!

Yes this is a known issue with SSD drives and motherboards that are using Nvidia's IDE/ACHI drivers.
