I'm going to pick up a x58 board. I want one that has usb 3.0 so that leaves me with the EVGA X58 SLI3, EVGA X58 FTW3, or EVGA X58 Classified3. I'm trying to stay on budget but will throw down on the Classified if I need it. I'm going to be doing an overclock on my cpu. It's going to be a i7 950. I want to take it to at least 3.5GHz. I would like to hit 4.0GHz but it isn't a issue if I don't. Based on this what board should I get? I'm also only going to be running 1 video card. What would be the main reason to go with a Classified3 or a FTW3 over the SLI3?

Hitting 3.5 on any of those, shouldn't be an issue

If you are on a budget, I would say go for the FTW3 board which is an excellent board. Provided your processor can handle it, 4.0 GHz should work fine via any of those boards.

Like steve said, you should be able to hit 3.5 on any of them. I own the older X58 SLi A1 mobo, i can hit 3.6 easy. EVGA X58 FTW3 has a $45 mail-in rebate at newegg that ends today $224.99 after rebate. If you was ordering today i would go for the FTW3 version.

The FTW3 does look like a awsome board. I'm going to go with that one. I'm going to put a corsair H70 on the cpu. Also going to get the EVGA Geforce 470 superclocked. Can't beat that price.

They might offer another rebate starting next month if you can't order the FTW3 today. I bought the FTW3 for a family member on Nov 15th and it only came with a $20 mail-in rebate.

I have to wait til Dec 10th to order. I also live in Canada so I will probably order from NCIX. Can't wait to get my order. It's been years since I owned a gaming PC. It's going to be awesome to shoot up stuff with a keyboard and mouse again.

I got a FTW3, and currently have a 930 at 4.01GHz rock solid stable with 12GB DDR3. Sure I can't do quad SLI, but I don't really care, 2 470's is MORE then enough for me. Had this for about 3 months now, and not a hiccup!

Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to go for the FTW3 motherboard. Now I just need a case recommendation. I have it narrowed down to 2 cases. Either the E-ATX Lian-Li PC-A77F or the ATX Lian-Li PC-X900. I really like the look of the PC-X900 but its shallow depth worries me. Anyone have experience with one of these two cases?

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?CatId=4070&EdpNo=5376741 Someone was saying they may want me to order one of these for them, I was afraid the rebait was going to run out, so I pulled the triger, then they changed their mind, well wife will kill me when she finds out, but I have a board that's going away, a 762 to sit beside my 759, decided to go with the Haf-X found it for $179, normaly $199, H-70 for $109, so far $569, or about 1/10 of the link below. Looks like they have extended the item 30 days, along with the MIR, I wouldn't expect to see it next year. The link below is still available as well; The one I bought does not have all the goodies, but seems like a better deal than: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7020077&CatId=4070 Only issue I noted is the one I bought came with BIOS 620K ( original ) which will not support a 980, but If you can Pull a lesser CPU to do the UPDATE, or order a BIOS chip for E-Bay for $14 including shipping, or call EVGA for assistance, you should be good.
