Hi everyone, i was searching a solution cuz i was getting system lock-up etc... With my 4x1gb ram I was getting random lock up and BSOD even while at stock speed (800Mhz ram 1333 overclocked FSB) I was wondering a lot of trying but nothing seem to stabilize it What I have found is that the SPP Voltage in the bios is too high than this make the SPP overheat even with fan over the heatsink. So I lowered it at 1.30 Volt and now everything work well even with a Q6600 overclocked at 1333 FSB x9. Please note that i am able to get my ram running at 1066 @ 2.2 volt. I will try even to push the cpu to 1466 FSB (3.3ghz) this should be working... Or not?? That will depend how the SPP (northbridge will act at 1.30 volt) For now I am trying to run the SPP at 1.25 Volt and it seems ok. So I think that EVGA push this voltage too high!!!! Please Reply if you experience similar problems.

I think he's just trying to offer advice.
Let me offer some in return...

Turn down the voltage on your RAM before it burns out. 2.2v will kill it sooner or later.

    Current settings:
    MB: 680i
    CPU: QX6700 @3200MHz
    RAM: 8GB OCZ @1066MHz @ 2.0v
    OS: Win7 64bit

Hmm I have 4 slots populated on my 680i and have a lock up problem when overclocked, not sure if I really ever tried taking voltage on the SPP lower. Maybe I'll give it a shot, don't think problem is exactly the same.

Also I recommend as Richard said as well and see if you can run the memory at 2.1v or less. 2.2v has been known to not only cause problems with the memory but the memory contollers as well which just happen to be in the northbridge/SPP you mentioned as getting too hot.

Guys, I had same issue with 800Mhz mem on stock voltage, no overclocking. So I had to use 667 mem... really pissing.

Were you using the correct listed voltage for the 800MHz?
Did you test the memory with memtest to make sure you did not have a bad stick?

    I wonder.

I put in 4 x GB Corsair RAM into my 680 SLI and asked Corsair for advice. This is what they replied:

With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 or DDR800 and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.2 Volts as well and test the system with www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.

Basically they advise me to crank UP the voltages, which I did. I do sometimes have blue screens with "Memory Management" though.
