I recently built a new computer with an e-7050/610i motherboard. It is working fine, except that I cannot get audio from either the line in jack or the microphone in jack to play through the speakers. I have experimented with the HD Audio Manager that came on the motherboard driver disk, and no matter what I do the record side sliders are greyed out.
I have tested with a known-good microphone and a known good line cable from my radio, and what goes in just doesn't come out. I am not using the case-mounted jacks - this is with the jacks on the motherboard. The jacks recognize when a cable is plugged in to them, so I know I am plugging into the right ones. I can play the 3d demo and the speaker test just fine, so I assume that the D-to-A side of the sound system is OK
I went to the Realtek web site thinking to download the latest driver, but when I got there they warn not to use their driver, instead to download from the motherboard manufacturer, because the software is customized for each motherboard. Meanwhile, EVGA encourages you to use Realtek's driver. What to do?
Also, is there documentation for the Realtek HD Audio Manager software anywhere?
Thanks for any advice.
