I just ordered two EVGA 470-SC cards to replace my GTX280's. I going to run two Dell 2410U monitors via DVI for school work/coding , and probably a Samsung 40 inch 1080p display via HDMI for movies/tv.

I know the two 470's can handle the three monitors, but would I see a noticeable benefit from putting one of the 280's back in to run the Samsung?

How would a third 470-SC do scale with this setup? Is it just overkill?

Thanks,
Brace

    Hello,

Watching movies HD or otherwise, actually is something that is processed more through the processor than the graphics card. For example, I have a media center system connected to a Samsung 55" 3D LED TV running at 1080p which runs fine. As for it's specs, it's an AMD 5600+ X2, 4gb of memory, and an onboard ATI HD3300 with HDMI from about 4 years ago. It runs all my movies fine without issue. As such, your current setup should be more than fine. If you plan on using 2d surround or 3d surround for gaming, that's where you might see the difference.
