Can i use 2 different video cards on my x58 SLI micro and have them both putting out a video signal?

Id like to use my GTX285 for my normal 22" Samsung monitor and buy a cheapy video card to output to my new Insignia 42" LCD TV (NS-LCD42HD).

I'm having a problem with my 285 putting out a signal to my TV but my friends 8800GT works fine. Is that even possible to have 2 video card with 2 different set of drivers putting out 2 video signals?

Here is a link to the problem im having.

    Hello,

As long as you have the latest 258.96 drivers, which are the same for both cards that wouldn't be a problem. Just don't connect the two cards using the SLI bridge as obviously you are trying to run them individually, and they won't be identical cards. You may want to look into doing straight VGA, DVI or HDMI as such I'd recommend one of the lower 200 series cards. Reason for this is not all TV HDMI ports are meant to work with computers, and many times adapters will cause weird issues were displays are not correctly detected.

Ok, so im getting at the 6/7/8/9/200 series all use the same drivers?

What if i had an old PCI FX5600 id want to install as a 2nd video card? Could i not do it because there will be 2 conflicting drivers?

    Hello,

That is correct. Also, if you are running windows 7, the card is not even supported.

Very true! I forgot to check compatibility as well.
So are there any 6 series that are compatible with W7? Do you guys have a page that shows all the cards that are compatible?

    Thanks!
