Just curious if anyone is using a Coolermaster V8, in a Silverstone “Fortress” FT02 case? I am about to swap my system over to the new case from a smaller Lian LI PC1100 Plus and am contemplating building a system for “show and go”, versus my usual “go only”.
My current system and what will be migrated initially is comprised of an eVGA 780i SLi board, Q9550 CPU (OC’d to 3.15), 8GB OCZ Ram, Zalman 1000 PSU and an EVGA 98000GX2. My current cooler is a Zalman 9700NT which does an ok job, but my temps stay around 50 degrees Celsius all the time on the cpu, probably as result of sitting right next to the 9800gx2..
Being an automobile enthusiast, I like the look of the coolermaster v8, however due to the unique mounting scheme for the mobo and components in the fortess ft02, I am wondering if I might fair better with what I have or loook at something else; plus if I were to use the Coolermaster, the cosmetic orientation would be wrong if I mounted it the way it was designed and one would be looking at the V8 logo side-ways.
If I rotated the cooler, it would lose the benefits of the case fans blowing cool air up from the bottom of the case and cycling it through the coolers fan and out the top mounted exhaust.
Am I making sense? Any thoughts?
I also like the Corsair H50, but after reading that folks are getting better results with a push-pull config. Feel that I would not be getting the best cooling with the Corsair unit unless I followed suite and the Silverstone case doesn’t lead itself well to such a configuration. Although I imagine I could replace one of the lower intake fans with the H50….
