https://videocardz.com/newz/furmark-2-to-be-released-this-month Geeks3D are working on a new version of one of the most popular GPU benchmarking tools, Furmark, since 2022. The beta was available to Geeks3D members on Discord since late 2022 and the software is now heading for the public release this month.
Furmark’s primary objective was to perform stress tests on the GPU, often likened to a GPU virus. Reviewers extensively relied on this tool to ascertain the maximum temperature the GPU could attain. However, GPU manufacturers eventually invented solutions to restrict GPUs from reaching higher power states and clock speeds when such software was in use.
FurMark 2.0 utilizes either the OpenGL or Vulkan graphics API and offers three predefined benchmark options: 1080p, 1440p, and 2160p resolutions. Users still have the flexibility to select their preferred resolution and graphics settings for testing. Its user-friendliness remains on par with the 1.0 version.
With FurMark 2.0, users can also submit their benchmark scores to a
public database. It’s important to note that this ranking displays widely varying scores for different graphics cards. Consequently, it may not be suitable for performance evaluations, at least not until the software becomes publicly available.
Users have two options: they can either await the public release or try the software by joining the Geeks3D Discord community. The latest version (2.0.10.0) released in late August is believed to be one of the final releases before the software becomes publicly available.
