During a recent reinstall - card was working before shutdown. Powered off, and unplugged PSU.
Removed the card, installed a new drive, plugged the card back in after reseating everything, powered on - and the card smoked immediately. Saw on the oled: PEXVDD voltage too low before it powered down on its own before I could hit the power. Did not sound like a psu ovp. Plugged in another card and everything works fine otherwise.
No visible damage on the card.
I suspect one of the fuses blew - but not sure why exactly that would have happened. Its off to RMA now - so hopefully will have an update soon.

It smoked probably because the KP only has a fuse on the slot. Unlike other EVGA cards, it has no fuses on the 8pins. Sorry for your loss. I'm sure EVGA will take care of you.

well that sucks, sorry about that, I had a similar thing happen but not a Poof, just no video out, card lit up was seen in bios , just no output, had to RMA it

You don't have to cross-ship, if you don't want the expensive hold.

I don’t think the 2x MSRP cross ship is still happening now that stock has returned on the majority of products, but I could be wrong.

I don’t think the 2x MSRP cross ship is still happening now that stock has returned on the majority of products, but I could be wrong.
Correct, collateral is currently based on the MSRP of product.

Yeah - bit of a bummer. Card is gone to EVGA for now - and will see what they say. I might have just grabbed a kp3090ti if there were any left - but they seem to be dried up. Wait for 4090 I guess - but I don't expect we will see a kp very soon - unless it uses the identical pcb of the 3090 ti kp.

Won’t ever see a EVGA kingpin ever again. Hopefully he goes to another manufacturer or Kingpin is dead as well

They just killed the GPU division so I doubt Vince will stick around for the 100 or so Kingpin MB’s that sell. I’m being a bit dramatic as I’m sure it’s over 100 they sell but still it’s a small number.
