Finally scored a 3090 Kingpin Hydro Copper Kit that will be here this week and after downloading the install manual i have only one question i think for anyone who has torn theirs down.
Looking at the pictures they include its hard to tell when you get to the removal of the pump and the heat sinks, are those held in by screws or by adhesives?

You might want to reconsider, the AIO is very good, I wish I had left it on my first card. There are screws and the pads that hold it together, the putty is like a suction also. On the backplate near top power connector is adhesive pad, be careful with it, maybe warm it up a little? I think there was one person that damaged power trace trying to remove? Good luck, please post before and after temps.

The AIO doesn't have anywhere close to the cooling ability of the Hydro Copper block. Even though the Hydro Copper block of the worst of the two available Kingpin 3090 water blocks, its still at least 10C cooler GPU and front side memory temps when the card is overclocked.

How about the weight with the single slot mount, is that really solid enough with the increased weight in a tradition mounting

Considering that many air cooled and AIO hybrid RTX 3090 cards weight between 3 and 4 lbs already, weight can be a concern with any card, including a Hybrid card. The 3090 Hydro Copper doesn't weight anywhere close to the 7 and a half pounds of the 3090 Kingpin with the Optimus block. I'll have to find the photos, but I think the KP 3090 Hydro Copper is a little over 4 lbs. The air cooled 3090 Strix is 3 lbs 14 oz. in comparison. With the hybrid cards, you don't have to worry about the weight of the radiator, but you have to account for the card, heatsinks, shroud, etc..., and some of the weight of the hoses.

just measured the stock HC pads i have off one of mine at the moment and they're close to 2mm, so i'd guess 2-2.5mm will work depending on the pads. the stock kit has pads that are closer to putty as you likely know, so they compress very well unlike some of the aftermarket products available

what about the stuff on the backplate? and that damn 2 sided tape? I am so lost on what to buy atm. any recommendations? are all the pads the same thickness? seems like the vram and mosfet ones are thin.

if i'm being honest, i removed the block to prep it for cold and just sort of stacked them all on a credit card here. so not entirely sure which are from front or back. Here's a thread where the "official" answer is: https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/3317352 BUT, as you see in that thread some folks are using 2mm and getting good results, so I guess YMMV (which is almost entirely dependent on the pads you choose)

yeah it's been some months since we had this discussion :D but i think that lined up with what i have here (i bought some gelid pads); friends of mine and I all bought 2mm and 2.5mm gelid bc we agreed that the EVGA stock pads are more like putty and prob have a bit more "give" in the thickness when compressed, so we stuck with 2 and 2.5 assuming the .25mm would be negligible when mounted with reasonable pressure

aside from the special place in hell to which it should be delivered? lol when i was removing the block i swear i missed a screw bc of that junk. if an option, i'd just not use anything there. long as the pads and putty are right, shouldn't have an impact on mounting pressure imo

AIOs are great against air cooling but custom cooling will always beat AIOs if you want to go further.

my pleasure, and you don't owe me bud...hope you get things set up and working to your liking. lord knows i've spent my fair share of time mounting and removing water blocks over the last year plus lol my new challenge is getting a good gpu pot mount. i'll post up some pictures of my shenanigans once i'm sure i haven't made any irreversible mistakes

I guess I should have stated it differently. My card although temps were lower, did not benefit. just bad luck.

What size did you go with on the back? How are the temps vs. the HC pads? Debating on to order some myself but if the improvement was small i might not.
