Been on the fense.. I have a 3-4 year old evga 1300 watt G2 80+ gold psu I'm planning on using for the new build..If it can handle transients.

I did test the system out on air prior using a new 1200watt P2 PSU I also got in the bundle deal.

Was just going to use that in the 2nd build with a 2080ti Kingpin and 9900k at 5 2.

Should I just swap the PSU's??

Or would a 1600watt P+ be better?

I hear my system will pull around 8-900watts on full load.

EDIT: it's a 1200watt Platium2 pau.. not titanium.. haha

Either of your existing PSUs will be just fine.   You will be pulling right in the sweet spot of that PSU's curve.
Maybe use the 1200w T2 in whatever is your main rig - for it's efficiency.

Im really asking more about If the 1300 G2 80+ gold rated if it can handle transients.. guessing better off with the platium 1200 watt model.

I hear the 1300 Platium model has bad coil wine... so ill stay away from that.

Platinum vs gold doesn't really tell you much about how well it will deal with transient spikes. That's strictly an efficiency rating, not an overall quality rating.

IMHO the G2 1300w is one of the best at transients, only surpassed by the 1600w G2.  Check the Tech Power Up old reviews.  The P2 is about the same, maybe just a hair behind.

I'm of the opinion that the more efficient you make a PSU on the same platform, you're likely to make it perform worse elsewhere.

    And

    https://www.techpowerup.c...vga-supernova-p2-1200/

These reviews give all info one could want..

Basically a tie.. well the 1200p2 does a little better with the 5.5v and 3.3 rails.

Both great on the 12v rails.

Thats funny that you say tech power up as that's where I was looking at them haha.

    Thanks anyways..

Leaning the 1300 psu since it's been solid and battle tested so why not.

Yeah, the 1300P+ platinum seems to have a bad rep of having coil whine as you can see from the many posts on it. Mine developed really bad coil whine when under any load and I had to RMA for another one. The replacement is better and has been fine for a couple of months now. I was scared initially when I heard coil whine upon starting it up... but it went away.

Regardless, 1300w is overkill for a 3090 ftw and 12900k. If you meant 3090 Ti, then that'll still be more than enough. The P2 1200w should have been developed by super flower which is really reliable and your g2 1300w is also made by super flower and is more than enough to handle the 3090 ftw3 as well. Either psu will be more than enough for what you listed.

I've got a feeling we are going to see some new PSUs this summer.
