What's the best way to give the X12 a generic bind for the thumb keys?

I want my thumb keys to not have any base functionality at all, that way I can rebind it within whatever game/program I'm using and not have it activate unwanted actions. However by default they're bound to "Foward" and "Backward" which messes with a lot of stuff. I've been looking around the unleash program but I can't seem to find anything that'll easily allow me to do this unless I bind it to weird keyboard keys that I'm not normally using, which itself could cause problems if I end up playing a game with a large amount of buttons like Arma.

Not exactly sure i understand the problem, they have worked for me like they did on any mouse i had before (G502, X17), they are essentially your old fashioned "Mouse 4" and "Mouse 5" just like before. I'm using it in multiple games and they are detected as such.
