So as the title suggests, I just upgraded to Windows 11 to try out the new OS and fiddled around and decided to run some benchmarks to make sure everything was as expected. I started the upgrade on my AMD rig and noticed some sizeable gains in performance with really the only thing different being Windows versions. That's not to say my Intel/Nvidia rig didn't get a performance bump because it did but not to the degree I am seeing with my Radeon build. Without further ado, lets get to the results. Now these are done with my daily driver settings with the CPU (Ryzen 5900X) left at stock and a modest OC on the 6900XT at 2500Mhz core and 2150Mhz (17.2Ghz) memory in the AMD driver. Windows 10 18,678 https://www.3dmark.com/spy/19822267 Windows 11 19,617 https://www.3dmark.com/spy/23324729 That's about a 5% increase in Graphics Test 1 and more than 7% increase in Graphics Test 2 test at the same speeds. It also carries into Port Royal though not as pronounced Windows 10 10,385 https://www.3dmark.com/pr/1196063 Windows 11 10, 534 https://www.3dmark.com/pr/1255741 That's only about a 1.5% increase but it is measurable and repeatable so an increase just the same. Now on to the Nvidia results Again same settings between runs with my 11700K running at stock speeds and my RTX 3090 with a very mild OC of +50Mhz core and + 250Mhz memory for an average of about an 1820Mhz core clock and a 20Ghz memory clock. Windows 10 18,034 https://www.3dmark.com/spy/23325074 Windows 11 18,124 https://www.3dmark.com/spy/23325593 That's less than 1% on both GT1 and GT2, but again repeatable and measurable Now on to Port Royal Windows 10 13,266 https://www.3dmark.com/pr/1196070 Windows 11 13,331 https://www.3dmark.com/pr/1255731 Again a less than 1% difference in the benchmark. Anyone else taking the plunge? I'd like to see more Windows 10 vs 11 results with the same speeds.

These numbers kind of have me wanting to update. That and I already have my files backed up. Looks like they have the media creation tools available if anyone wants to jump on it today. I just would make sure that Windows Update says your computer can run Windows 11 and know that not every piece of software or hardware might have a Windows 11 driver day one. Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com)

I've seen people who posted the opposite. They had significantly worse 3DMark benchmark scores in Windows 11 with the latest drivers on all hardware.

Nice, so you too are seeing about a 1K score bump going to Windows 11. Have you run any games RJ? I'm also seeing a decent uptick in games on the AMD rig as well. Nothing Earth shattering mind you, but a few more frames at the same settings in games like AC Valhalla where in internal benchmark goes from 68fps avg to 74fps at 4K with all settings maxed. Not seeing any real tangible performance gain on my Intel/Nvidia rig with the game benchmarks being virtually the same.

Despite the AMD Ryzen bug that both Microsoft and AMD are working on performance in gaming seems to be better. Just my personal opinion of course. I've run a variable amount of games. I am playing around with the Crysis remastered trilogy now.

I can concur, performance in most of the games I have tested on my Ryzen/6900XT system is in fact better or right on par with what they were on Windows 10. I'm not convinced the latency penalty has affected all users.

The extra performance with a free O/S update (windows 10 to Windows 11) was more than worth it.
