I know. I hardly ever write unless something is wrong. That's my bad. If it helps I think about y'all a lot?! :)
So, the build is nothing super hot regarding CPU or GPU, but it's a definite step up from the 6 year old. It'll do for the day if it runs my flight sims decently. But it is helpful if it "goes", yes?
I didn't build this on the table first, I've been tinkering with cable routing, fan placement, radiator locations (for first time water cool loop system) while wrestling with the fun of the unnamed monitor manufacturer about a DOA monitor. (It was.. fun. Yeah, that's not the word I'd use.) So, short story long, since everything was mostly in place, I just went with the build it in the case, just air-cooled for the moment, and make sure everything is working right before diving into the water project further. I'll probably pull it all out to do table top testing and trials shortly because the 'working right' part of that.. isn't.
Since everything in the 'new box' is new, any component swaps of working, known good, components will be coming out of the old desktop, Gskill Ripjaw 4 2400 memory and the GTX970 are about the limit for that though. I do have a 'spare' AMD 3900 CPU. However, before diving off that cliff I thought I'd toss the problem out there to see if anyone has an eye for the glaringly obvious, missed thingy.
Motherboard - EVGA X570 FTW
Power Supply - EVGA 1000 G6
CPU - AMD Ryzen 5800X (using air-cooler from 3900)
Graphics - Sapphire RX6700XT Nitro
RAM - T-Force (Teamgroup) Xtreem 32 GB (2x16) ddR4 3600 14-15-15-35 (mounted slots 2 & 4)
Hard Drive - currently Samsung 980 Pro, NVMe M.2 SSD, 2T (currently one, in M.2 slot nearest CPU)
Keyboard - EVGA Z20 (also using old Kensington PS2 for set up)
Mouse - EVGA X20
Monitor - Asus XG32VC
Case - Fractal Torrent (new, post-fan hub issue)
Fans - currently 2x 180 Fractal in front, intake. 1x 140 BeQuiet in back, exhaust. 3x Noctua on bottom, intake.
Power cables - EVGA (red) 100-G2-06RR-B9
So, currently, when I hit the power on the power supply, fans spool up, the LEDs light up, but on the motherboard the Reset and Power On buttons flash along with keyboard lights, no post code appears, nothing shows on the monitor. Disconnecting the front case I/O connections, in case there was something odd there, gives the same result. CPU 8-pin cable (not utilizing the optional 4 pin) is seated in the CPU port on the Power Supply and the MB CPU power socket. VGA Power is running from VGA1 and VGA2 on the power supply to the video card (not using the pigtails). Motherboard connection Power Supply to MB... Fans are all connected to the Motherboard connectors, not the case fan hub.
Anyway, that's where I currently am. I'll be peeling everything out of the case, but I will probably leave the cables and just use the cables that came with the power supply for the table/bench work. I'm planning on taking it back down to the bare motherboard and building it back up, but will also be checking back here. If nothing else changes, I'll be putting in a ticket. Just thought I'd check here to see if anyone had a thought first.
Thanks for the time all. Be ye well!
