Hi,

So I water cool 2 1080 ftw cards running in SLI with EKWB blocks.  On the back of the card there is a BIOS id and there is a CIN number.  On the other side I have my water blocks mounted.  I don't have probs with the cards; I really only want to get either or both of them registered so I can get into the Elite thing.  But if there is a serial number on the front I have to weigh the risk of screwing up things to get to it.

Is the card serial number even on the other side?

I was really hoping the SN would have been on the back side as it's not to tough to pull the nickel plated backplate off.  I did that and found 2 barcodes but don't seem to be what I need.  If it's on the heat sink piece (with the copper tubing and the fan and fins etc.) I don't even know if I have that any longer.

Can someone provide some guidance please?  I would have filed a service request but that requires the product to already be registered...

Thanks

The serial number sticker is on the back of the card on the original backplate.  Where are the original backplates?  Do you have them stored in a box somewhere?

Hi - thx for the reply + picture.  The backplate is long gone, however in a bit of irony I snuck into the office on Saturday and under my desk in the corner I found the actual 1080 box from Newegg.  It had the serial number on it, so I now have one of my cards registered at least.

    Thanks for the response.

The 1080s are pretty old now and they only carry a 3 year warranty, with the option to purchase an extended warranty during the 30 day period (I think). But that way you would have to upload the original invoice also during that period.

Otherwise, you receive a standard 3 year warranty - it’s based on the manufacturing date of the card.

I believe that if you have your original invoice, you can get a 3 year warranty from that date of purchase

I wouldn’t worry about it either way. The OP was just trying to get elite status, a d the person above you resurrected the thread, seemingly to get to 100 posts for elite status.
