I need a vid card for a pinball I'm making. Got a tip that Microcenter was getting some. Unfortunately, I watched the last guy get the 3070 I really wanted. Choices were 3090 for $2,000 or a 3060 for $399. The 3060 was all I really need and a 3070 was technically overkill..... but I could have had a 3090 lol. Didn't really want to scalp it but certainly could have. Think I made a mistake?

You made the right decision. The way I see it is if you scalp a card on ebay there is a good chance that the person on the purchasing end hates you and will do a chargeback.

If you got an EVGA 3060 you can always step up to the 3090. The wait is about a week from the last post there on a user. He signed up last week and got through his step 5 in about a week. The option is still there as a risk to your wallet should you have second thoughts. Also the 3070 step up is pretty much caught up too. So that could also be an option that doesn't hurt the wallet as much either. Congrats on the find and the addition to your pc.

Greed of 1 guy is affecting others as well. You did the right thing, caring for others. somebody else will do that for you in some other life scenario as well ! at least that is what I believe and it works for me

Honorable decision. A 3060 is fine for what you need, and a card literally millions of people would kill to have right now, and you got it at a pretty reasonable price too. I'd be happy.

2 grand is a lot of money to spend for something that was overkill for what you need. You made the right choice.

Imagine that the next person in line who got that 3090 bought it for himself and was very happy for finding it at MSRP. And you gave someone the chance of getting that. You shouldn't feel bad about it, rather the opposite.

As long as you're happy with your 3060 there's no need to feel bad about not having a "better" one. If the one you have works fine for what you need to do, that's great!
You can always buy a better one in the future when the situation goes back to normal or almost normal.
For now, enjoy the one you have (and definitely don't buy gpus just to scalp them, pls).
