Recently started checking the memory temps on my FTW3 Hybrid and they seem abnormally high. Even at idle they sit around 60-65c and when gaming they get between 90-100c very quickly. The core temps are fine and usually sit between 60-65c under load.

Sounds like yours has even worse coverage than my Kingpin did: You can see on the top right and bottom left memory chips I had about 1/5 of both those chips not being covered by thermal pad at all. The pad that's visible is a stock pad. I would recommend doing some research to find out exactly what size thermal pad your card has on it under the memory copper plate, then ordering some to redo them. The pads eVGA use are pretty bad in terms of re-use-ability, they fall apart & have strands in them to hold them together (which means putting them back together is impossible). Get 12W m/K pads to replace them & it should perform better than the stock ones. It could be poor coverage, or poor contact, or both. If you do end up taking it apart, keep in mind you have to redo the thermal paste as well, and that is not a fun process, you have to be very careful working around the GPU die not to damage or accidentally knock off any of the bare SMDs surrounding the die. This was my second time ever taking a GPU apart to check the pads & redo the paste since way back when I did it to an R9 290, and I'll be doing it again soon to install the KPE HC block. If you look up some guides & take your time, it's not that bad, you just have to be careful.

Guess I'll have to open it up and take a look. I installed a hybrid kit on my 1080ti before and I've repasted a couple of cards so it shouldn't be too bad.

If it's anything like the Kingpin, it's only a little over a dozen screws. Remove the backplate (there's 1-2 screws under it holding the shroud on along with most of the backplate screws)_ then 4 screws around the GPU die backside and that releases it mostly. With your memory temps being that high, I'll be shocked if there isn't bad contact. My 3080 FTW3 Ultra I didn't even run that hot on VRAM temps and it was air cooled. lol

I will never get a Hybrid series which I learned from owning a Corsair Hydro CPU fan. It can become faulty from one of the cooling tubes by corrosion

Jesus, um, you may have a defective product. At this point, I'll take it. If you are really upset with the product you can return it to EVGA but you will be put back on the waitlist with everybody else. Be lucky you have one rn and pray nothing happens to affect the internal hardware. (Or maybe just slap that onto eBay and watch as your defective product sells for $2000)

Yeah are we talking ICX temp or HWiNFO memory junction temp. Also what is the core idle temp? Idle at adaptive power or max performance? They are directly cooled by the AIO, of course, but backplate airflow can play a role. My 3080 system is down atm for extensive fan reconfiguration, but irrc the mem temps were in the 30's for a 23c idle, gaming at about 88C with 375-425w power and 55C core.

HWInfo memory junction temps. Right now at idle the core is 38c and the mem juntion temps are at 63c. The ICX memory temps are at 50-55c.

That's very high core idle temp if you are idling at 210mhz. If you're idling at your boost clock like 1800 mhz (driver power setting max performance) with low fan speed, that might be normal.

the 3080s and 3090 have a memory problem. there are several reddit posts about it. Basically they put some memory chips on the back, and it only has the backplate to cool it. so the 3080s and 3090 have had memory temps running 80-110C.

The 3080 doesn't have memory modules in the back of the card, so that is not the reason OP is having issues.

Took the card apart, didn't see anything weird with the thermal pads on the memory modules and all of the chips were fully covered, put it back together and now my core is 30c idle and the memory junction is 40-45c. Weird, but I'll take the W. Gonna add a couple more fans for a push/pull setup and see how much that helps.
