Just like hackers find a way to hack video games that have anti hack engines, spammers find ways to bypass reCAPTCHA as well. Since reCAPTCHA has been instituted, I haven't had to log in once, so I don't see any captcha issues. Also, we removed a LOT of spam this morning and it came from many different accounts at once, not just one person, so I would venture to guess that someone found an exploit and bombarded the system.

It counts. And it doesn't count. Either choice is correct. Google knows that some will count it and some won't.
