Hey all

I've got a 1000w G2 thats started making clicking/arc'ing type noises (originally started with the odd noise under load on a big load change, to constantly under load, to just all the time, even at idle, even when i pulled it and connected it up with the jumper plug and no loads).

Heres a youtube vid of the noises, does it with or without the fan on so its not a fan problem - https://youtu.be/4ms4AMl4pKQ

I
havn't put it back in my PC, but has it gone faulty? Or is it more likely just a coil or something has come unstuck and clicking (thus electrically, its safe).

Thing is i bought this back in 2014 (In australia from mWave), in 2017 it was RMA'ed for a failed 12v rail (it sat under 12v at idle and would droop to about 10.5v under load....), it was replaced with my current unit (which was a newer unit with the Eco/temp sensitive fan which was a god send tbh). I'm pretty sure it originally had 10 years warranty on it (evga's website says its out of warranty even though it was bought in 2014 but the -xr on the part-no says it should have 10 years.....then im not sure if the new unit had its own 10 years warranty or just the remainder of the originals warranty, regardless it'd still be inside the 10 years....).

Thoughts on the sound would be appreciated though!

Sorry, I accidentally set it to private rather than unlisted, should be visible now 😊

I don't know all your details obviously - but XR should be a 10 year warranty.
    per EVGA warranty info page

Yup, I finally got a response back from EVGA and it's 10 years from original invoice (not a restart of 10 years on the new unit). Regardless it's still got about 3 years left so off to RMA it went. Let's see what happens.....

I gave it a try on another power circuit and powering just a GPU of another PC and it still clicked its head off so yeah something definitely wrong
