3080 FTW3 ULTRA suddenly no drivers no precision X1

Card has been working without a hitch for over a week, this morning I notice precision X1 showed the splash screen but didnt actually load, Geforce experience missing too (not running)

Could not get either to launch so uninstalled both, rebooted and re downloaded latest Gforce experience, 461.40

It says the driver is ready, I do the install, it prompts a reboot, I reboot.  open geforce experience again, it says the driver is ready... the same driver.   No matter how many times I do the install it never installs.
Under DXDiag I am getting:  "There is a problem with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 device. For more information, search for 'graphics device driver error code 14'"
 
 
Precision X1 installs but will not launch.
 
 
Please advise

    What is the Device Manager showing?

    I personally would try using ddu to revert to a previous driver.  I don't know if it would help, but drivers 460 and 461 are not exactly known for their stability.  But that's just me.  I'm still on 457.51 after several regretful attempts at trying newer drivers.

    I uninstalled it in task manager as well as removing ALL Nvidia software and after a reboot life has returned to normal.

    GeForce Experience is a mishmash of good and bad, I'd recommend only installing it for the free game if you qualify for the promotion, then uninstalling it immediately.  It can cause issues with other programs.
    As for Precision X1... I literally don't use it unless I'm changing the stuff on my card's OLED display - I use Afterburner for fan control/clock & power settings.
