Currently running this 3+ year old beast lol..
Specs:
CPU- i7 7700hq 2.8ghz
GPU- GTX 1060m 6gb
RAM- 16gb
HARDDRIVE- 1tb SSD (upgraded.)
120hz screen

I actually love this laptop and for all the abuse it’s been through over the years, it still runs all my current games at med-high settings with pretty solid performance. However I noticed the GPU slowing down on COD CW. I was thinking of upgrading the GPU to possibly another mobile such as the 1080...or perhaps stick an external GPU and play it that way..

What do guys suggest?
I prefer laptops as I travel a lot for work.

What is the laptop make and model? It is impossible to suggest GPU upgrades without knowing GPU upgrade p
    options compatible with that laptop.

If the laptop uses a MXM card, you should be able to upgrade the GPU, but you will still be limited by the options that specific laptop supports heatsink-wise and BIOS-wise.

If the laptop doesn't use a MXM card, an internal upgrade is not an option. An external video card could be an option, but only if the laptop has the required connector, wiring, and BIOS allowing for external GPU support.

It's not possible to give suggestions without knowing the laptop make and model.

Sorry, its an ASUS ROG GL50V3 STRIX
Yes I heard the GPU upgrades are very limited on laptops and its not like switching it out with desktops. Re-paste heat sink paste, refit everything etc.

That laptop's video card is part of the motherboard. It cannot be replaced/upgraded.

An external GPU would be your only option, but reports are that performance of external video cards is limited a lot by the connection. The better the video card, the more it is limited by the external connection. So, not really an option that is worth it.

Ah I see, so upgrading the internal GPU is a no go. I guess I will continue to use this laptop until it dies, it's been 3+ years and still running solid.
COD:CW is absolutely playable with medium settings, my biggest concern was when more modern games start giving this GPU some problems which it already kind of is when I start cranking the settings a little bit higher.

I appreciate the answer though brotha.
