Luckily I still have my GTX 1080 because I was playing league and I heard a tick and my whole screen went out. Looked down and a red light was glowing. RIP. F in the chat for all the busted FTW3 cards.

FYI: the PCI connections weren't originally daisy chained under normal operation, I daisy chained them because I was trouble shooting my cables. No luck unfortunately.

Sorry that really sucks.  I hope they can RMA you a new one quick!

I assume that game is not very demanding and the FPS is really high?
The higher the FPS the more buzzing the coils will do, I wonder if there is an issue with the Coils in the inductors and at High FPS the damn things are exploding.

I always set an FPS limit on my machine for gaming.

No insult to anyone who still can't put.....together and figure that there is something wrong with # of EVGA 30 series cards.  No game, it doesn't matter how demanding might be will kill your card, unless the card has issues already.
Sad thing is that EVGA won’t open their mouth, cards keep on dying and people keep on speculating

If we were to set an fps limit then there wouldn't be a reason to buy those 144-165+ monitors and there wouldn't be a reason to switch from our trusted 1060s even. Something is horribly wrong with the 3000 series and arguing that such beastly cards should be used at low fps in order not to literally explode at times is (sorry no insult intended) RIDICULOUS.

There is a thread where at least two or three users report their cards are working but the red led is lit over one power connection. EVGA responded and asks them to try a different firmware or driver. I would think that with cards popping and then a red led being on over the power connection, they might possibly be related. One might expect EVGA to request the cards be returned so they could troubleshoot on the bench before the card smokes, but then EVGA may already know and are just letting it run its course. I am leaning towards that scenario where they know and its just quicker and cheaper to let the bad cards cycle through.

My 3090 FTW Ultra arrives Thursday. I have already found a buyer. He is aware of the situation and willing to take that chance. Getting one of these cards at MSRP was difficult to start with. I don't want to be in RMA limbo waiting for a replacement, and then like in another thread, get the replacement, which also smokes and you are sending in for RMA again.

Excuse the PUN, but I'm gonna let the smoke settle and see where things sit in a month or so.

I normally run 300+ FPS on league. Not a demanding game at all. Basically CPU bottlenecked. I haven’t noticed any type of coil wine or buzzing then again I play with headphones on.

Ouch, so are these cards failing more than normally? i.e. FTW3 3080s or all in general? I saw someone saying it's the highest failure rate they've seen. Wondering what the data on this is.

Yea, I wonder if capping the FPS to monitor Hz (e.g. 144) might help at least with this rash of bricking with light load gaming and high FPS.

I'm sorry for those with broken cards, hopefully you'll get the replacements soon.

Yes I do, I rarely use it though. Not sure how to OC GPUs anyways.
