Here is one way to cut into a Scalper's bottom line: Example, scalpers are selling brand new EVGA 3080 FTW3 for ~$1200 each on ebay, thats about ~400 over MSRP. EVGA can create a new "Anti Scalper" bundle for ~$1200 and offer an email-in rebate for ~$400. In order to get the rebate, you have to cut up the outer box, maybe there is a unique serial code/stamp/sticker on the box you must show, email in picture proof of outter box destruction. This way, the scalpers can no longer sell the product as "BRAND NEW", and they would have to list it as Pre-Owned, Used etc. This should definitely cut into their profits, since they can't sell a pre-owned card as high. Scalpers may be forced to move onto other brands. I believe EVGA is capable of doing this and making sure most of the cards go to real, loyal customers. Anti-Scalper editions and Notification Checkout Process, should eliminate most scalpers on this site at least. Yeah its a bit more work, but its better than feeding the scalpers on ebay. If EVGA uses my silly idea, please sign me up as #1 Auto Notify on the Anti-Scalper bundle

Sell them with the purchasers name and address on the box so they can’t get warranty if scalped lol

Terrible idea many rebates are a scam that are never honored. Almost everyone has been burned on rebates. If they were to do that they would lose pretty much every customer who has ever been burned on rebates that could not be collected.

Never been scammed myself and never heard of mail-in rebates being scams as a thing. Most companies do mail-in rebates in hopes of the customer being lazy and never going through the process. Plus an "Anti-Scalp" bundle would be 100% optional, why would EVGA lose customers? Ok maybe EVGA would lose customers that plan on reselling their cards in a band new box with a fat markup

I’m sure something could be done to stop them maybe even 2step Authenticator for purchases not hard to implement if they put like a 30 second time window on getting the 2step code back I’m sure bots can’t do that

It would work in USA, but when currency conversion comes into play either EVGA or the customer has to take the loss, because the chances of currency being the same as it was when the product was bought are close to zero.

EVGA has gone far beyond what others are doing by offering the auto-notify que feature which reserves a card for the buyer. Thanks to that I have been running my 3090 FTW3 Ultra for three weeks now.

I doubt they constantly reprice their products in other regions based on the exchange rate, so they're not really exposing themselves to any additional currency risk

Example: Someone from Sweden buys from EVGA EU shop. SEK (from customer bank account) are converted (using that day's exchange rate) to EUR. EVGA gives that rebate amount of EUR back to customer, but before that amount lands on customer account it gets converted (using that day's exchange rate) back to SEK. Paypal is especially cruel, when it comes to this type of things, because of their harsh exchange rates. I just recently canceled my order on UK online shop and got a refund, which was around 30€ less than I paid initially.

Yes, so EVGA has not taken any exchange rate risk (and would not take any additional risk), it is something they have passed on to the end user, who has chosen to take a conversion from kronor to euros and back again. Of course I doubt anyone would hold foreign currencies or hedges just to buy a graphics card, but technically there's also nothing stopping them from doing so.

I guess you haven't dealt with the rebate process here. It's not administered by EVGA, it's some 3rd party company that takes many months to process and send you a prepaid credit card for your rebate. They are seriously bad. If the rebates could be processed in a reasonable time frame (say a week or two) then ok, but those clowns seriously take forever.

When's the last time you tried? The recent ones I've done (3 or 4 years ago), rebates started offering expedited refunds at a cost of like $2 or $3 or some other arbitrary amount to get it to you within 1 to 2 weeks. I opted to do it one time and it was that fast. Others rarely took the 6 to 8 weeks they said, which was nice. Now for rebates before that time, yeah, full 8 weeks if not longer.

Far more recently than you - April this year. It took 4 months for my one to be processed, even though they said ~6 weeks, and there was no option to PAY for them to do it quicker (and there damn well shouldn't be), and I was certainly not the only one. Thread.

EVGA Supports says: "Thank you for the recommendation, but unfortunately many customers would not be able to afford to spend $1200 on a product up front and just seeing that price coming directly from EVGA would turn away many customers. We are already doing as much as we can for purchases from EVGA.com, by implementing the queue system and manually verifying orders, as well as limiting quantity per household. We also do not have control over how items are sold by our retail and online partners." Maybe they misunderstood the idea of having an EVGA.com exclusive bundle that wouldn't be sold elsewhere. oh well

I think they are doing a fantastic job; I was there at the first moments for the 3070s and have had all 3 versions offered - including the one I got, day 1, for the black gaming at $500. Given supply and demand I expect I'll get a similar deal on a 3080ti
