I have differing loads being shown for my 3080. Task Manager shows my GPU load as 96/97% in a game, at the same time, HWInfo shows it as 80%ish. If its a loading screen etc, HWInfo will show maybe 50%, Task Manager will be around 75%. HWInfo will show it 95% in BF2042 menu (poorly optimised, its definitely using it fully, as fans and temps climb. Which makes me think Task Manager must be wrong / unreliable. Am I worrying about nothing? Which should I trust? I would guess HWInfo. Ive looked in EVGA Precision, it shows a Power %, but cant see anything to do with load.

What you should do instead is look for what your gpu usage while gaming. When you alt+tab to check your gpu usage its not gonna be %100.

Which game are you playing? What specs do you have? I usually use afterburner for monitoring. But precision x1-hwinfo-gpuz seems to show correct usages too. I wouldn't completely trust task manager for game gpu usage because its shows different use cases of the card like rendering, encoding, decoding.

BF2042. Though I play Tarkov a fair bit too. 5900X, 3080 Ultra, 32GB Ram, M2 2TB Pcie4. Im not getting poor performance, or bad frames. Purely wondering if I should trust Task Manager or HWInfo for load. Ive never looked before in Task Manager for it, just happened to today when I was looking at Disk usage, and saw it was different. For clarity, I have a Rain Meter widget for GPU / CPU use etc. That feeds directly from HWInfo, if I open HWInfo, it shows the same as the widget. But just that doesnt match Task Manager.

I wouldn't "trust" task manager for info. I think HWInfo is better. But I can't give anything scientific for you to back this up :). It is just my opinion. BTW It is normal that your GPU usage flactuate in BF games. I don't know anything about Tarkov.
