I listened a little while I was driving around, and the CPU’s sound pretty great! I may look at the AMD 5950x as my next CPU, as I am still on a Intel 6950x
YES, I do feel like I have to state which company since AMD is following intels old numbering scheme still.

My video card will be up to date but the rest of my PC is 2015. I may have to look into this more.

I'm also leaning towards the 5900x. I have most of my parts for a new build and am super close for the step-up to Step 2. The only unknown is if I can actually Obtain the 5900x when it launches. I'm sure bots will be prevalent unless AMD directs the retailers/etailers to do something different. We shall see.

I watched the stream. It was ok. I was surprised at how short it was. Like 30 min total. I am excited for it, I have a pending build that I am waiting on hardware availability to do. I am hoping that newegg or someone does a legit pre-buy for them. I feel that is the best reasonable way to avoid bot issues.

Sad to see their RX 6000 preview shows its under the 3080 by a bit. But I think we all knew they probably don't really have a nvidia killer. Unless they are sandbagging and that's actually their 3070 competitor and they still have bigger cards to show off. Fingers crossed.

So here is my dilemma: zen 3 coming first week November. It’ll be the last cpu for that socket. Intel 10th gen, new socket but rocket lake will also work in that socket. Rocket lake will probably be faster than zen 3 the way these things flip back and forth. Buy intel motherboard now upgrade to rocket lake maybe end of next year knowing that I can just keep the same motherboard, ram, gpu, etc. for 2-3 years afterwards. So only upgrade cost over probably 4 years would be cpu. OR go zen 3 now knowing that if I ever want to upgrade anything except gpu in 4 years or so I’ll have to do everything. In the grand scheme of things whether I pick intel or and right now we are only talking a small difference in performance now but upgradability will be cheaper in the immediate if I went with intel. There is no such thing as future proof but future upgrade cost to keep things fresh is a deciding factor.

Rocket Lake will only be at most 8 cores on 14nm +++... and will need to clock at least 5.2 Ghz+ to beat Zen 3 in single core, at least with Zen 3 you can upgrade up to 16 cores on the platform at way less power. That said I do believe Rocket Lake has a chance at being slightly better in gaming. X570 is a better platform also than Z490, Z490 is more equivalent to B550.

Regarding the chipset fan on x570 motherboards. How noticeable is it?

I am only familiar with a few boards but it’s really a non issue as its dead silent since spinning so slow or not even spinning at all most of the time.
