Did something change, or was it always like this?

New Nu Audio Pro 7.1 owner here. I am not sure if the hardware/software always functioned this way so I shall run it past you all.
 
I though that with the following options:
- Headphones enabled as a playback option
- Channel set to 5.1
 
This was happening:
-The sound card would automatically down mix the 5.1 to 2.0 on the 6.35mm port allowing a one click toggle of surround speakers from headphone listening.
 
Did it ever do this? Did I mix up some audio files I was testing with and trick myself?

    End of the day here, so I don't have a lot of time to speculate on this.  I'll check with the audio team to see what might be happening.  I know we have a few internal tricks to adjust settings to avoid situations that shouldn't work, but I also know we don't have any special up-mixing or down-mixing software for this purpose either.
