Would you say the 3080/3090 is enough of a technology evolution to warrant upgrading my Titan Xp on this release? I'm running 4k/60 on most games now, really its the ray tracing voodoo I'm interested in and future-proofing for next ~3 years of AAA game house stuff. Most of the late-late release 2080ti cards and driver releases was coming close to Titan performance, does it make sense then I should compare my current Titan Xp at about the same gap they are showing in the demo release stuff?

I would definetly say the 3090 is.  I'm not sure how on how the Titan XP benchmarks for gaming though.  I assumed the 2080 Ti would have beaten it.  Might still be best to wait for benchmarks though.

The Titan Xp is basically a 1080 Ti with a bad cooler, so draw your conclusions from there.

Until you upgrade to 4K 120/144hz, than a GPU upgrade would be a waste honestly.  The screen will hold you back if you're only gaming at 4K/60hz, presuming your current system specs can handle it as well.

Personally I don't upgrade until my GPU starts struggling producing frames that match my monitor's refresh rate. That being said, a 3090 would be a good choice if you plan of 4K at 144Hz when HDMI 2.1 monitors come out.
