Every time I try to run OCCT of AVX-512 instruction set with ‘Steady load’ option checked OCCT crashes within seconds. It doesn’t crash when that option is not checked.

When I try to run OCCT of other instruction sets (SSE, AVX, AVX2) with ‘Steady load’ option checked OCCT does -NOT- crash.

This happens with both OCCT 7.2.5 and 7.3.0. on both of my systems so it does not seem to issue with single release of OCCT nor it seems to be due to Windows install (one of these is completely fresh install).

This does not seem to be due to recent BIOS updates, I tested with both 1.23 and 1.26 and same thing is happening with both.

This does not seem to be due to overclocking, I have tested with default BIOS settings and it was still happening.

So I’m wondering does it crash if you too try it? Or it works fine?

Is it detecting any errors prior to crashing?

I just tested with v7.2.5 and v7.3.0 and I am getting the same results as well, looks to be a software bug. I have reached out to OCCT support, they have been pretty responsive in the past when I found an issue so we will see what they say.

Phew! Thank you VERY much for confirming you too have same result! I too felt it seems like a bug because one of systems it was crashing on has been tested extremely thoroughly with both P95 and V 6.1.0 of OCCT (that version didn't have a 'Steady load' option yet, it was introduced in 7.2.0) without a single issue ever.

Are you aware, please, does OCCT create any crash logs and, if yes, where it might be saving them? I couldn't find any.

    Hi everyone,
I'm OCCT's author, and this thread was sent to me by email from one of your members.
It's one of those issues that are hard to test, solely because I don't have access to an AVX-512 capable CPU.
EDIT -- issue fixed in OCCT 7.3.1, please update !
    Thanks !
