are evga gs series 6 pin to sata cables compatible with the 650 bq

So i bought a sata cable for my evga. friend game his old 650 bq needed a sata cable for it i went to ebay bought a 6 pin to sata cable didnt realise it was for the gs supernova psus will it work is the pinout the same i just dont want to fry my hdd but i dont want to buy a new one and pay 5$ extra shipping can any body help on this on im confused about this ?

    GS/PS units take different cables than a BQ.
     
    You can check voltages/rearrange the terminals according to the industry-standard SATA Pinout if you have/can borrow a digital voltmeter.
