This is a similar post to another one made, but I purchased this graphics card and I will receive it in the mail tomorrow (August 24, 2020). I was wondering if I would be eligible for the step up program when the new cards come out from Nvidia in September? If the outlook for that is not very good, would I still be able to just return it for a refund? It would still be in the packaging it came in and unopened.

Hello, you may review any step-up promotion qualifications from our step-up page here: https://www.evga.com/support/stepup/

This card purchased as a new unit from one of our authorized retailers will be eligible for the step-up program. In the event there are any future upgrade options available within the 90 day eligibility window, you may opt into the program. Please keep in mind the refund policy from the retailer you purchased the card from. Products purchased through our web-store are eligible for return/refund within 14 days of purchase. Opened products are subject to a 15% restocking fee.

I realize that if the new Ampere series comes out that It would be an upgrade to a base model and not the modified FTW or XC or other types EVGA offer, but I purchased it directly from EVGA off the website. But do you think that I could still be eligible for the step up program? or should I just return the purchase and wait?

It is based off the MSRP value of the product. I cannot begin to speculate on any potential upcoming or unreleased products. If there is an eligible upgrade in regards to a card of greater value from what you paid for your 2070. As an example, a qualifying upgrade would be a 2070 FTW to an 2080ti XC. It doesn't matter which submodel you have, so long as the one-time upgrade is to an eligible and qualifying product of greater value.

Also keep in mind that the new cards are rumored to be launching soon. Some companies do a soft launch of here it is and in three weeks you can buy one. Also they might instantly sell out making stepping up hard for the near future. Of course it's all rumors until the launch of a new product by NVIDIA.

So do you all think it would be best in my interest to just return the product ordered (still unopened and arrives today) on the website for a refund? Also would I just go to a UPS location to ship it back if I go through with that? would I need a special label?

UPDATE: Well the UPS notification I got was a return to sender, so would I receive a refund?

The 3xxx series will be officially announced\launched by Nvidia sometime in September most likely.
AIBs (EVGA) will have there 3xxx products ready a short while after Nvidia officially announces\releases it.
3xxx series will most likely not show up in EVGA step-up program until after that.
I would say return the current one for refund and wait until the new series is released and available stock is there for it as I doubt it will show up for step-up before your 90 days is up.
