Evga 400 Power supply not shuting off

I have a Evga 400 watt power supply that is about a year old. Just recently, when I shut off the computer the power light stays on and the power supply continues to run. I have to unplug the computer to turn it off. It turns on and runs with no problems. What could be the problem?

    Disconnect the 24-pin connector from the PSU on the mobo and see if the PSU fan stops spinning..Disconnect all external hardware except keyboard and mouse and see if it shuts off.
     
    Just a few things there to try for now.
     
    Also, what mobo do you have?

    Thanks for the reply. I'll try unplugging the 24-pin connector. My motherboard is an Asus Prime A320M-K with a Athlon 200GE CPU. Only thing else connected to the PS is a 1T Western Digital hard Drive. It has to be a problem with either the PS or the motherboard.

    Right.

    What turns a PSU on/off is the mobo grounding/ungrounding the PS_ON terminal 16 of the 24-pin connector.

    If the PSU does not turn off when you disconnect the 24-pin connector, the PSU is faulty..If the PSU does turn off when you disconnect the 24-pin connector, the problem is on the mobo side.

    You can also 'jump start' or 'hotwire' a PSU for testing by connecting the PS_ON terminal 16 to any Ground terminal of the 24-pin connector using a paper clip or piece of jumper wire or an 'EVGA Detection Tool' that comes with some PSUs..See How do I test my power supply? in the EVGA FAQs.
     
    Connector views are always shown as if you are looking into the end of them unless otherwise specified..That's why they'e called connector 'end views.'

    Chances are good that the PSU is faulty and stuck on, but it could also be the mobo or sometimes something like a powered USB device connected to the mobo has been known to cause problems too.

    It's also worth pointing out that the light will continue to be on  as long as power goes to the PSU. The PSU is supposed to hold a charge ready to go the second you hit the power button on the PC. I would personally reach out to EVGA support though since they can assist in troubleshooting and if that doesn't work offer an RMA if it's within warranty.

    Yeah, there will be a +5VSB (Volts StandBy) LED on the mobo somewhere and is often incorporated into an onboard Start button.
     
    That means the mobo is getting +5VSB from the PSU, as it should when shut down, and is ready to intialize startup routine..+5VSB should be supplied by the PSU as long as the PSU is plugged in/switched on.
