Hey in the jungle of EVGA PSUs I'm having a hard time figuring this one out.
Currently I'm on an 850W Supernova G2 that I feel uncomfortable with overclocking my 10980XE with an RTX 3080 hooked up. I reckon I want to buy either 1000W or a bit more, thing is it can't exceed the G2 in depth (180 mm). Preferably it should be more shallow than that as the G2 is a snug fit already. But noise level is also a concern. Efficiency less so.
I've heard the GA has problems with some RTX 3080 cards, tripping OC-protection so I don't dare touch that series.
The G3 series has a loud fan that spins up even at low power usage and is out of the running due to that. Is the G5 series similar in that respect? I see there is a 1000W G5 model that looks compact and similar to the G3. What changes/issues did they adress with going G5?
Looking at the 1200W+ models P/T what have you, seems their depth all reach or even exceed 180mm or am I missing some model?
I bit the sour one and imported the PerFE 12-pin sleeved cable for EVGA PSUs so yeah, next PSU better be compatible with the most expensive cable I've ever bought. It is without exception compatible with all EVGA PSUs currently on the market, right?
Thankful for any input :)
