He (Ric Ocasek) was 75 and The Cars were inducted into the Rock n' Roll hall of fame only just last year sadly without co-founder Benjamin Orr who died in 2000 from pancreatic cancer. Eddie Money and Ric Ocasek both dead with a week's time. A great loss. RIP Ric Ocasek. 
 
 

I still listen to The Cars.  They have the music that just doesn't get old to me. R.I.P. Ric

The Cars were at the forefront of the 80s New Wave rock era, right around the time MTV was getting off the ground with the Buggles video ("Video Killed The Radio Star"). Then Grunge rock became prevalent in the 90s through bands like Nirvana.
