Yeah I understand that but what does that have to do with being greedy?
I think it meant he chose Speed (being able to fly) over greed (higher pay) though it'd be a stretch to define anyone who has some desire for money as greedy (it's what you'll do in order to get it that matters from my perspective anyway) I don't think it's meant literally.
