Samsung's 2019 isn't having a good start, with the company issuing the first profit warning of the company's modern history, stating that the company's profits will fall short of market expectations. In recent months, memory pricing has entered free-fall, with demand for chips growing at a much smaller rate than DRAM supply. On top of this, the smartphone market isn't as strong as it once was, with analysts claiming that the smartphone market is shrinking, which has placed additional strain on every major manufacturer. 
 
Personally I don't see memory prices falling that much looking at stores such as Newegg. If anything prices have gone up. 

First thing that comes to mind reading this is, I wonder why when looking at ram prices, smartphone prices, etc.  $800 to a $1,000.+ for smartphones.  It's ridiculous.

The thing is, a lot of people are in 2 year cycles for smartphones, so off years are not good for sales.

Same but mine's not a plus.  Works great especially with the lastest update to iOS 12.2.
