Should i return? i applied for RMA but am i doing the right thing?

I realised i pick up alot of coil whine via my mic input and possibly somtimes via the headphone output itself, i also have trouble somtimes with the headphone jack making poor contact in the headphone socket (with the evga adaptor for 3.5mm its really bad, and somtimes does it with the AKG adaptor i have to)

Im either getting random crashes of the card, or when my screen goes off when im not at the pc the card stops responding (restart fixes this), Also if i use the dolby atmos (virtual surround) via windows spatial sound setting when i return setting to normal the card will not work untill i troubleshoot it via windows, restart will not fix that problem.

Going back to my onboard sound now, it certainly does not sound as good. but i have no noise at all via microphone,

I also appear to get a lot of , what sounds like sound clipping, like little pops and clicks somtimes. I think i get this via onboard sound and im pretty sure its a windows 10 thing, but the card just amplifies this i believe.

i could test if i can use my mic via onboard, an sound output via the Nu Audio card, ( onboard has been off via bios and drivers removed previously ) But i feel like i shouldent need to do this when i pay good money for a sound card. 50/50 what to do part of me is screaming send it back it doesent work as you want it to and its not exactly a cheep purchase.

Im also pretty dissapointed EVGA do not supply pre paid return labels like almost everyone does now. Also while support say i wont be charged a 15% re stock fee, the RMA form says otherwise. so essentially there is the possibility that returning this item could cost me about £40 for the pleasure of returning.

Im not really intrested in starting a RMA lottery, arranging for someone to be in to accept a new delivery, possibly end up having to return multiple items, Seeing as EVGA do not cover return costs this could get expensive.

An honestly , if i had known all of this before purchasing directly from evga i would have likely just purchased from a retailer like amazon/scan/ocuk.

Current system specs:

Asus Maximus 10 hero /8700k
16gb corsair vengeance lpx 3200
Evga 850 G3 PSU
120gb OS ssd, 256gb game ssd, 2tb hdd.

The loose headphone jack would be worth an RMA, but unfortunately the noise picked up by mic/HP is not likely to improve with an exchange. If possible, you could try moving the NU (or other cards) to other slots to see if you can reduce the interference.

As I mentioned in another thread, the NU Audio mic input and headphone circuit traces are long and located on the unshielded back of the card. It's not at all surprising that they could pick up nearby electrical noise. It's almost as if the card was designed with a backplate in mind, seeing how exposed those traces are.

Hi thanks for the reply, Yeah i forgot to mention i have tried every available slot on my board, even the one furthest away from my gpu has the same interference.
i guess im scared of having to try different cards, still have the same problem, have to pay to send even more items back, an possibly loose my 14 or 30 days to return for refund, im not sure which applies.

i mean im pretty sure a DIY shield would work as i have seen people do for other cards. but i feel at this price point im leaning more towards you really should not have to.
