Hi All,
I just bought this card today to replace my Realtek onboard audio, and I'm very impressed. I can actually hear things I could not hear before (on this machine Im using 20 year old BeyerDynamic headphones)
I also compared it to a Sound Blaster ZX in another machine and again, I think the NU sounds clearer and more detailed.
That's impressive and all, but I did a PC power/reboot test on the analog & optical out, and the following impressed me even more:
Normally, when I reboot my PC with the SB ZX or any other SB card (i've had quite a few), the speakers would get that quick crackle & pop during the initial power cycle which really annoyed me as I have pretty high end speakers hooked up.
IMO, during a reboot its got the potential to damage the speaker drivers/woofers because of that inital loud crackle/pop during a PC power ON or reboot cycle.
So anyways, with this NU card, I get virtually no crackle/pop during a PC power UP or reboot. To this day, it's the only card I've ever used that is capable of supressing signal surges to speakers during a reboot etc.
Good job to the EVGA engineers!
On another note, I found an annoying issue with the way the software works which could be easily resolved.
If I disable the Microphone Input or Line In or SPDIF Out in the Windows sound device manager, when trying to load the NU software I receive an error complaining those interfaces can't be found and follows with this this error msg popup.
Aside from that, I love this card esp the NU software being so simple and straight forward.
