Now that I'm feeling secure with my new job and making money, I need a new multimeter.
Anyone have any suggestions or "avoid!" comments?

Yes, I'm considering them..but would like to spend a little less than 400 bucks (for the good ones)...I suppose I should just forget it and buy a Fluke.

I always suggest fluke, as they are a great brand. But they are pricey.
Fluke was bought out and some of their more recent products are pretty horrendous. For example, their new inductive amp meter is absolutely terrible. I recommend reading honest reviews very carefully before making a purchase. The new owners seem to be interested in making a lot of profit on the name for new inferior products. Their older products, on the other hand, are consistent. EEVblog (website and youtube channel) has some good multimeter reviews. Good expensive stuff and good cheap stuff which is surprisingly good for the price. Dave Jones at EEVblog also has his own brand of multimeter which is solid.

I usually suggest Fluke as well, but I also hear good things about Klein Tools Multimeters. -Jacob B.

It kind of depends on what capabilities you want or need. I didn't know that about Fluke ty_ger. I assumed them to be among the top dog.

Lol AvE videos. Good choice. I don't do too much with multi-meters anymore, so I usually just end up using a cheapo from home depot. Chicken Stick included. https://www.kleintools.com/catalog/multimeters/electrical-test-kit That said when I am actually working on something more than checking ohms on a coil or general voltage testing. I pull out an old Simpson of mine. If I need more detail than that I pull out the O-scope.

That guy cracks me up. I couldn't talk that that if I had a script to read off of.
I've got an old Fluke 75 that I've had since the early 90s and it works well, but I don't use it for anything too technical. Just general house wiring and such.

I am sad to hear that about Fluke. I have an Fluke 88 Automotive Meter (Original series) that is 25+ years old - Still my go too unit And this bad boy which is just about as old - Fluke 97 ScopeMeter 2 Ch, 50 MHz - https://www.atecorp.com/products/fluke/97I am the original owner of both
