Of all the different things I've done, I've never water cooled a GPU. Purchased the EVGA block over EK. Liked the idea of pads preinstalled, the "genuine" article etc.
For once I read and followed instructions. I have no clue what GPU they put the directions too but they were not even close to what was in the box. As an example. There is no mention of a "mid plate" in the EVGA manual. I called tech support. They said leave it. Nope, won't work with that on. Second call straightened that out. Also, they put a screw under a sticker and couldn't even see it.
They included some fiber type washers. No mention of those in the instructions. New cpu plate had a black fiber type layer......replacing washers?? That was my best guess. Not shown in pictures.
No pictures/directions of the front support plate or reversal to reinstall. Not even listed. Does the plate get sandwiched between pcb and backplate? The original back plate screws had a spring between the back plate and screw. Instructions do not mention using the springs again.... or discarding them. They do say not to reused the screws....but what about the springs? Right now, I do not have those installed. I'm not convinced the springs should be left out.
Anyway, These are $1000+ cards and another $180 for a block. It seems like a simple task to put very concise instructions out there so folks don't goof up their card or do it incorrectly. If we do..... The warranty would be void because we screwed it up.
That's my rant for the week. Open to suggestions on a couple of points here. Thanks
