EVGA Support Email

germille04, thank you for contacting the EVGA Customer Service Team. My name is Ant Montgomery and I will answer your question today.

Your Answer:

Hi,

One of our technicians has analysed the pictures of the card that you sent into us and found that one of the small electrical components is missing from the back of the card.

Under these circumstances we would have to reject the card for replacement and would not be able to cover it under the warranty due to CID (Customer Induced Damage).

I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

Regards
Ant - EVGA

You uploaded the same picture twice. By any chance, did they send pictures referencing what component they are referring to?

It is very strange the card would work fine in slot 2, but not slot 1.

Do you have a large hestsink or anything that could be touching the gpu by any chance?

The Tech Seal is Broken so could you have damaged the PCB when you remove the Shroud?

Or is this a Second Hard Card?

I can't really see much from your blurry out-of-focus picture. Even if someone does find the missing component, without a sharp image, it will be hard to judge how the component came to be missing.

Based on OP's photos and serial number sticker, that should still be under warranty, even if it was a second hand purchase (just make sure to provide some sort of invoice proving there was a transfer of ownership). The reasoning to ask for a warranty claim is a little suspect and I would ask the OP to try the video card in different slots or different computers altogether. IMO, if the card works in 1 slot but not another one, that is the fault of the motherboard or other attached components and not the fault of the GPU.

Those tamper-evident seals break if you even breathe on them. The only real way to detect if it was -actually- tampered is if it isn't rotationally aligned with the rest of the sticker on the PCB, and if it looks like a screwdriver was pushed into and through the sticker in order to turn the screw. You could try turning the screw by the screw's outside edges with a pliers, but that's besides the point.

EVGA does not invalidate warranty if you take it apart, even if the tamper-evident sticker is messed up. The sticker just makes it known to the techs that it was taken apart and should be inspected closer during a warranty claim.

Fun fact: "Warranty void if removed" stickers are illegal in the USA under the 1975 Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. A manufacturer can't simply deny a claim based on if a tamper sticker was tampered/removed. The manufacturer has to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the failure of the device was/wasn't the fault of the user (physical abuse, installed improperly, etc). The warranty act actually leans towards a user's warranty can't be invalidated if the user repaired the item with third party services, but if the repair is considered abuse (like if someone bakes their GPU in an oven and it melts the plastic) then that is no-bueno and should rightfully invalidate the warranty. I don't know what the stance is with EVGA if an end-user replaces a broken fan with a compatible one though since it's likely not an exact EVGA-branded fan.

Welcome to the high definition world crammed in under 500kb.

EVGA really needs to find a better way to host images so high definition photos can be loaded.

Also, the tech seal may be broken but it wasn’t punctured, so I doubt the screw was ever removed. The tech seal also isn’t a warranty void sticker, so that whole argument isn’t needed either.

Honestly my post is originally posted in technical issue section just to know if anyone experienced the same problem...i emailed the evga what it could be as it works in the 2nd slot... but im sure my first slot is working because my other gpu is working in that slot...i never tried to disassemble it also the problem is not the tech seal evga said theres missing component from the photo so i asked them to show me where is it and to show me in the picture but no reply from evga till now. So how someone can accept that?

That image is poor being only 141KB in size but if the OP submitted a Support Ticket the limit is 2MB per Image.
The image on the Right is only 14KB so is useless.
File Less than 2MB and linked not attached is of the quality needed to review for damage or missing parts.
