Hi, Until recently, the Dark Rock Pro 4 was listed as compatible with the EVGA Dark Rock Pro 4. This air cooler actually fits BUT it does sit on the VRM fans. They still function, but it would be nice if I could get a little space. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can raise the Dark Rock Pro 4 about 2-4 mm. Two mm will do the trick but it would be nice to have a little room. I was thinking about just adding a few 1mm washers to the stand for the cooler. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.. Thx

Thanks. Good idea in the fins. I want to avoid the whole AIO vs Air Cooled debate.
My motivation in using the air cooled device is two-fold. First, I just don’t trust most AIOs. For example, my original design was to use an EVGA 280mm CLC AIO. The first one Zi got cooled great but sounded like a jet engine. The replacement cooled 7-9 degrees warmer. Now I admit, I am an EVGA fanboy. Their products work and in the rare occasion of problems, you can always get help from EVGA. But then this EVGA 280mm cooler destroyed my idea about EVGA support. Then oddly enough I saw my sons new computer’s AIO by Enermax or whatever piss all over and destroy his motherboard out of the blue. My faith in AIO made by Asustek and rebranded by whomever is gone.
But to be fair, I have ordered an Alphacool Eisbaer LT, but it will be a few weeks as the only place I could get it to as in my he UK. I suspect the Alphacool Eisbaer LT is also rebranded by several companies: Be Quiet, and Deepcool, at the least.
Bottom line, if I can get away with an air cooled system, I would be happiest at this point. Watching my son’s AIO leak all over his motherboard was painful, especially since the build is less than six months old.
So any ideas on how I can get 1-4 mm added to the height would be great.

That’s the older model where the pump/block has a small reservoir. The Eisbaer LT is the updated version where the block does not have a reservoir. I like simplicity so removing the reservoir just cleaned this AIO up enough for me to buy.

BTW, very nice system you built there. My complements!
I had never seen an AIO leak like that and Enermax took care of him too but he had to jump through hoops before he was compensated while also not have no his main rig available for almost 5 weeks. Not cool at all, no pun intended..,
I am not trying to set any records or even stress my gear with over locking to the limits. I just want a stable platform. In the end, I will probably go with Alphacool’ Eisbaer LT360, but it won’t get here for several weeks.

You were joking about raising it up with washers, right?
