Listed By Retailer, Wrecks the i9-7980XE in Price Per Core, Price Per Performance Metrics It looks like the first listing of AMD’s upcoming Ryzen Threadripper 2990X HEDT processor has just appeared and found out by Videocardz. AMD already upped the ante when the announced a 32 core, 64 thread behemoth processor against Intel’s new HEDT which would pack 28 cores but they are going to take it one step ahead by offering that many cores for less than Intel’s current flagship which packs only 18 cores.  https://wccftech.com/amd-ryzen-threadripper-2990x-cpu-price-1500-usd-leak/ --------------------------------------------------------------- at this point Intel has to wreck it's pricing model and it's xeon line pricing to compete against AMD at this point selling chips at maybe 20-30% of the Xeon prices??? - that's taking a tank on pricing

OK but not everyone wants or needs a 32 core processor. I don't think I can afford the 32 core so I might have to go for a 24 core model if the price is within my budget.

1500$ 32 cores. Hahahaa, this will become available for 1100 euro after few months in Serbia, because 1950X is now available for 720-750 euro. Me with 32 cores... No, off course. Max I pay is 500 euro for Processor. I only know one thing, I would like to have i7-8086K, but after Intel show their care for customers in my region I promise I will not paid single euro before they show up with next gen core and hit market with same power as AMD with Threadripper. Until than, investing in Intel for me is wasting of money. No way, even 300 euro, even 280 euro I don't care. I like most because price of i9-7980XE will stay 1700$ or drop for 100$, ha haa... That make me happy. Intel's excuse will be Better in Single Threaded performance. People will pay 18 core because better single threaded performance instead AMD Threadripper + i5. AMD Threadripper 2, 32 cores should cut working time on half compare to Intel i9-7980XE. That mean if platform need to work 48h to finish something, you finish for 24h and you are free one day to enjoy in nature.

I don't know how, but price of AMD 1900X-1920X-1950X didn't so higher than price in dollars when AMD launch them.
I was surprised, very fast I notice few sellers for 850 euro of 1950X. Maybe because lower demand, I'm not sure...
But now when this CPU show up, i9-7900X is 30% of his power in multithreaded apps.
Ha haa, Intel could sell him as budget variant, for 320$ as i7-8700K for people who can't aford AMD Threadripper Gen 2.
Lack of idea, problems with products, manipulation with customers, overprice products, everything in one moment will crush on Intel's head. Even manupulation of useless chipset revisions, and new motherboards people need to buy to install their buggy craps with security problems.

I think first price will be arround 1600 euro in Europe. Soon we will see and 2nd Gen Motherboards. What EVGA decide? They prepare E-ATX Classified for Threadripper Gen 2 or not?  Or they stay with sinking ship like Captain and endless security poblems, Intel bugs discovery.

Yeah I read the article, but the product picture price says different. Converting the price for the Euro to USD, the US is getting screwed if the price is $1,500.

All hail AMD the new leaders in the Corean War. The only people who will win in this war, are the consumers. :) At $1500 this is a steal, and I think Intel is going to have to really eat into their pride/ego and realize they can no longer demand the prices they are used to. This will literally destroy Intel for all multimedia workstations. Why buy an i9 for $1900 when this is cheaper, faster, and has almost double the cores? It also won't eat 600+ watts of power while doing avx2 operations :P, well maybe, we won't know till it's released and properly benchmarked haha.
I really look forward to this new era of computing power. The time will come when each of us will have the equivalent of a college computer lab in our tower.
