Just got the keyboard with the brown switches and have to say overall I am happy of course I got it with the mouse for $50 so price does have an impact on my views of course. The keyboard is nice to type on and the action does feel very good under the fingers. It's a bit louder then my last keyboard since I am still using more force on the keyboard then I need to be most of the time but the feeling is very nice for typing on compared to my older Logitech keyboard. The keys are uniform in height on the keyboard and sit square like they should with none sitting twisted. Lettering on the keys also looks nice and clear.
I also like the lighting effects since the lighting is bright and the ability to have lighting effects is nice to have during the day. It would be great though if the software allowed for automatic profile switching for late night gameplay though but I don't really need a keyboard to see what I am typing. I just could see some people wanting different profiles based on the time of the day that could be switched automatically. I did notice |\ key on the keyboard doesn't seem to want to light up at all but it's a key I don't really use that much so not really a deal breaker. While the keyboard doesn't feature RGB lighting the effects do allow enough customization that I am happy. For the price it's a pretty good deal just to have any backlighting.
The LCD screen isn't much to talk home about really. Sitting and typing I really can't read the information on it which seems pretty basic information anyway with things like the date and the time. It also says when you are saving a new profile to the keyboard which takes a bit of time. I really don't see myself using the screen for much of anything which is another thing that at the price that I paid I can't really complain about. Also when I think about it I have had screens on keyboards before going back to the G15 Logitech keyboard and never really used that one as well other then thinking it was really cool back in the day.
The sliders for volume is probably the biggest issue on the keyboard. So far I have only been able to get it to react to raise the volume about 60% from off. What is odd is that going from 0% all the way up which stopped at 58% and then back down only dropped it to 8% instead of 0% When I went back up it stopped at 70% that time. Clearly it's not as good as a wheel would have been but it would be good enough to drop the volume if I needed to take a phone call until I could fully mute it with a click of the mouse. It's better then not having any control but also not very good. On the other side the LED dimmer seems to work just fine going from off all the way up to full brightness and then back down. That said I have noticed a delay in the slider and the reaction on the keyboard. So far I have wanted the lighting to be full bright or fully off. Knowing it takes a moment for the lights to show just how far you have moved isn't a big deal just something you notice.
The pop up feet are pretty cool to be spring loaded but it would be nice if they had more then one setting. Also I don't really know if they need to be spring loaded since it's not that hard to manually move them into position. I guess some 13 year old might want to pop them out to try to impresses people at a LAN party though or something. Really it's not a flaw just something I thought was kind of cool then I realized I probably will use the feature only when I move the keyboard which wouldn't be that often. Also the three position wrist rest is very nice to give height where I want it. I find that having it furthest away from the keyboard is most comfortable for me. Some other keyboards I have used have had wrist rests that are just not very comfortable and so far I haven't noticed that with the Z10 thanks to it's ability to pick where I want it. If it was attached to the keyboard at the closest position like most keyboards have it then it would have the same flaw that most of them suffer with not being right for me. Finally that brings us to the USB ports which are very nice to have but would have been better with USB 3.0 instead of 2.0.
Overall I have to say I am very happy with the keyboard. Sure it has some flaws but I think some of them might be able to be fixed with a software update. The price I paid really made it a great deal and typing and what gaming I have done has so far been enjoyable. I can understand people pointing out flaws at the full price point but if picked up on sale I think it's a fine keyboard as really typing feels good on it. At the $39.99 price I paid I would give it a 10/10 since I would be comparing what is available in that price range, but if I had paid full price I think my score would be a 6/10 since it has flaws but overall is a quality keyboard with some nice extras and probably would give it a 8/10 if you get the Torq X10 mouse with it at a bundle price. I would say that if you can find it for around $80 it's worth considering even with the flaws and hopefully we see a version 2.0 that can address the flaws it does have which I kind of feel are not unfixable.
