Hi all,

This is a new build which consist of the following parts:

EVGA Z370 FTW
EVGA GTX 1070 SC
EVGA Supernova 850W G2
Intel i7-8700
Ram.....?

Now i checked the QVL as i always do. Since some motherboards can be really picky with RAM.
My "choice" would be this set as shown in the QVL list:

Corsair CMK16GX4M4A2400C14 --- (14-16-16-31 - 1.2V)

However this is a 4 x 4gb set
I rather have a 2 x 8gb set so i found this one i believe its the exact same set except for the size like this one (2 x 8GB):

Corsair CMK16GX4M2A2400C14 --- (14-16-16-31 - 1.2V)

All i did was change the part ie number between M and A.
CMK16GX4M4A2400C14

CMK16GX4M2A2400C14

Will this work fine they have the same specs except the size?
Unless some one can point me to a set within the QVL that uses 16gb with 2 x 8gb range between 2400mhz to 2666mhz.

Thanks in advance.

You should be fine with 8 GB sticks.  The z370 chipset only runs memory in dual channel...so all will be fine.  Using two sticks also gives you room to grow in the future.  4 x 4 GB will fill all the slots now.  Go for the 2 x 8.  Corsair memory has no issues that I have ever seen on an EVGA motherboard.  Good luck with the build

MSI MAG X670-E Tomahawk;  Ryzen 7 7800X3D; Asus TUF RTX 4070 TI OC; Seasonic Vertex GX-1000 PSU; 32 GB  Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6000 CL30 RGB; Corsair iCue Link H150i LCD 360MM AIO; 2-Western Digital Black 4 TB SN850X NVMe; Creative SoundBlaster Z;  Lian Li Lancool III; Corsair K70 RGB Pro MX Speed Silver Keyboard; Razer Viper 8K Mouse

So even though the first 4 x 4gb set has been tested by EVGA the second one i found is pretty much the same except for the size 2 x 8gb (but not tested in QVL) is this correct?. If there is even a slight difference which there should be none imo i rather not take the risk of instability this rig will not be overclocked hence the non K i7 cpu.

Prices are a pain now for ddr4 maybe in a year or so upgrade to 32gb.

Shouldn't be any difference.  They should be the same XMP profile, except the difference of the stick size.  There shouldn't be any instability in the CPU either.  I have 32 GB of GSkill DDR4-3200 that were on the QVL list for the X99 but not the X299.  The 4 GB chips were qvl for X299...same model and brand.  Mine are 4 x 8 and work perfectly...
