https://www.engadget.com/2018/02/22/intel-5g-laptops/ While Qualcomm is concentrating on 5G for the mobile market Intel is working on 5G support for mobile PCs for various OEMs. Personally I think we'll see more and more of laptop PCs with a constant 'on' connectivity by the end of 2019.

With the speed of 5G I wonder if we might someday see computers running off of an online OS.

With the cost of cellular connectivity, I wonder if many people will really care. Free wifi (or wifi which you are already subscribed to for other reasons) or paying extra for another cellular device? I know my decision.
ASRock Z77 • Intel Core i7 3770K • EVGA GTX 1080 • Samsung 850 Pro • Seasonic PRIME 600W Titanium

Yeah I don't see the allure of this. I guess if you pay bazillions a month for cell service you probably won't notice an additional fee to use a non cell device, but still.

I don't think we'll see that type of OS for a long time, not until we can get more than a few gigs of data per month.

I am kind of thinking more long term. I think by the time we see driverless cars we will probably see an OS that can be streamed.

5G zero to $500 bill in record time. Promoting metered access is an 80's paradigm. We're all fools for still buying into it.

We just use our wireless network for the Laptop. It may not get full speed, but works good enough.
